Toyota Corp of Torrance continues to avoid backing their vehicles for affected owners with vehicle motor problems..(blue smoke,sludge gel,low oil pressure, incorrect dealer auto repair etc) Buyer beware..what propelled Japanese car makers into the good graces of consumer confidence is now eroding Toyota USA.. They have adopted the practices of US car manufactures in not standing behind their cars in good faith..
My Camry ceased operation last week before I could get properly fixed after leaving at dealerships 5 times to repair. My engine light went on and was told it could be one of three things related to fuel emissions and it would cost between 150.00 to 900.00 to fix..They replaced the filler neck seal first then reset the engine light and it came back on a few days later..they said they had two more things to try..at my expense..One dealer said the fuel and fumes are leaking into the car from the gas tank from the canister filter..but he did not look worried after I wondered is that dangerous? I called Toyota USA in Torrance and they each dealer is independently owned and operates according to their management and Toyotas guidelines..
My solution was instead of me paying for the dealer to try to fix it at my expense they should pay for the part and I pay for the labor..After consulting their script and go to on duty hatchet man they said sorry but we can't help as much as we would like to our hands are tied (to what); you are on your own..I have replaced that with a used 2000 Avalon after calling a servicing dealer who said that car is a gem and 2 days later I notice blue smoke and the engine oil light coming on at stops etc..General Motors thinks their advertising of new warranty incentives will repair their bad reputation for service of their vehicle under same warranty..what good is unlimited warranty 1 million miles and 100 years if when you take it to the dealer they say "SORRY THAT JUST IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT WE CAN FIX IT" Can I count the number of victims hands on that? Here is my Solution being in a specialized Automotive repair business 34 years with my only goal to constantly improve my service and product. Setup a location in Toyota USA Torrance or Authorized training facility for car owners to bring/send their cars in for specialized diagnosis and repair. You bring the coffee and donuts, a gift certificate for successful repairs and at Toyotas expense.. sludge/engine problems can be taken to your dealer or Toyota USA where technicians in Training can work supervised by experts side by side in fixing real manufacture problems and inspire everyone to once again constantly improve their products!! DR. Charles Deming and Toyota President Fujio Cho would be proud all Toyota employees have taken the steps necessary to do the right by their customers without fear thereby stabilizing the consumer purchase confidence in Toyota sooner than later...all Toyota stands to lose is their reputation.. -FYI- before you buy any Toyota have a friend drive it for you and follow behind ..it is not normal to see any smoke let alone blue smoke and is destined for DOOMED reliability..I saw blue two days later my oil light went red!!!
