Dear Charlene, don't be afraid to speak out. Soon, you and the rest of the world will be able to read many, many, LETTERS that were written and mailed and faxed to TOYOTA'S CORPORATE OFFICES. These LETTERS were received and ignored by them. However, I was smart enough to send copies to MANY NEWS STATIONS and it got me on T.V. You can go to 9news.com and type in the name ORNELAS and search the story from 2005 and read the article that made the front page of the Denver Post on 5-19-2005 and WATCH the video too!
Also. don't you find it interesting that Toyota's ex- CEO, Mr. Funo(who is Japanese) was replaced by an American just after all the T.V. exposure in the Denver area? Mr. Watanabe, Jim Presses boss in Japan, somehow decided to move Mr. Funo out of the helm in California. We wonder why. Maybe Jim Press was TRICKED and he doesn't even know it.
Here is some excellent information that a Harvard Business Professor shared with his class in November & December of 2004. (my brother-in law was in that class, he's a CEO of a Corporation back in Pittsburgh, Pa who is worth well over $30 million) "Events don't cause corporations to collapse, it's the opinions of the events that trigger the collapse." A Corporation's worst fear is EXPOSURE. Exposure to the problem is what Toyota fears, it's what every company or corporation fears. Stock values would tumbe. They don't want that. That's why not too many people know about your problem as well as others who are suffering too. To create more awareness to this problem, you can simply place small ads in Newspapers all over the USA. Your ad can say this: GO TO : ripoffreport.com and type in TOYOTA, read the complaint about 'Sludge' . This simple ad will create awareness to your problem and OTHERS will join in the ranks of those who are fed up with Toyota. Take a look at all the Corporate fraud. Enron, Worldcom, Qwest, Tyco, Refco, Hollinger(just on 7-13-2007), & even the Catholic Church ( $660 million in payouts just last week in LA because of sex abuse by PRIESTS!) The Collapse has been triggered. Most have become too alienated to even see it. Just watch what happens to all those 401K's in the next few years. And watch how the Dow Jones Adjusts too. Karl, thank you for telling me your story. I actually read about it here on this site. I commend you for your persistence and diligence in pursuing the matter! Toyota and other companies count on the fact that most product owners don't have the time to persevere in such a consumer effort. They hope that you just go away quietly, albeit frustrated. They want YOU to take responsibility for THEIR failings. This way, they can maintain their bottom lines!
Were it not for a few persistent Toyota owners initially, the Toyota engine oil sludge problem would have never come to light at all!! At the time I stumbled upon it, it had already been discused for a few years. One Toyota owner, Steve Weiss, took the matter as far as he had time to do so. He followed all the right channels and he gave Toyota every single opportunity to make good on his new vehicle warranty. I read about his case online and after I contacted him, he sent me his letters to Toyota. Truly amazing!! Toyota did not acknowledge the matter then despite thousands of owner complaints.
Toyota knows that most consumers will simply give up; it has no clue how tenacious others are, though. I think that this sludge issue has really awakened automakers a bit. Toyota admitted that the industry was watching its actions in the engine oil sludge matter. What a role model, huh?
Now we have these companies creating positions known as "Consumer-Generated Media Managers" and such. What is that? These employees seek to "control the brand" online. What does this mean for consumers? It means that they need to be even more diligent in seeking the truth. With companies like "Complaintremover.com" and various other aliases, consumers cannot be assured that the truth will be accessible to them! Information in searches will be SANITIZED to make the company look better than it really is!
Amazing, isn't it, that we are being manipulated like that?!? How easy it is to eliminate what has come before! POOF! Key information that would allow a consumer to make an educated decision or to get relief when problems develop is suddenly stripped from a Google search! The "Complaintremover.com" says that Toyota is already using the technology to manipulate search engine information about the company. I can honestly tell you that I am not surprised.
My question is why would a company which reaches the #1 spot in the auto industry feel a need to use "Search Engine Optimization" (a.k.a. search information stripping!) to promote its name? Does this make you wonder how it achieved that position with such measures being taken to HIDE key information??? All I can say, is that it makes all that has come before perfect sense to me now!
Controlling the brand...eliminating the truth?...is the key emphasis right now online. What? Do these companies believe that consumers can gain too much clout online if they don't intervene? Why can't they let the products speak for themselves? If the product is worthy, it won't have noteworthy complaints, will it? Isn't this a no-brainer??
You are right, Karl! Consumers must utilize journalists, particularly investigative ones, to uncover the truth. It is clear that the companies aren't going to allow the truth to stand any longer! Isn't it ashame that consumers must go to these extremes for a company to be responsive? Absolutely unconscionable!!
Thank you, Karl, for providing this valuable information! To piggyback this advice, I recommend that Toyota owners NOT give up, that they expect Toyota to do the right thing, and that they monitor it until it does! My hope is that they use whatever consumer resources there are to seek justice in their cases and that they SPEAK UP loudly and clearly about their experiences so that others will benefit. Collective action is the most effective means to be successful! Toyota Owners Unite for Resolution!

Charlene, I have many friends in the car business. Some are Mechanics. I called one of them at about noon today and I asked him these questions:
Is there such a thing as a 'Sludge Problem' in Toyota engines? He said, 'YES'.
What is it? He said, 'The oil becomes too thick creating a sticky substance, almost like a varnish that coats the engine and forms a residue.'
What causes this? He said, 'Too much stress and too much heat.'
What is the 'root' of the problem and how would you sum it up in one sentence? He said, ' A faulty engine.'
What can be done if someone has this problem in their Toyota vehicle? He said, ' They can run synthetic oil in the vehicle which will help it, but it will not solve the problem completely.'
And then he told me that Volkswagen has had the Sludge Problem too. He asked me if I wanted information that he, as a Mechanic, could get that the Public isn't able to access and I said yes. So, as soon as he gets it to me I will let you know.
Now, this is what I want you to do. Bake 4 or 5 batches of Chocolate Chip Cookies and take them in to a Toyota Dealer that you have NEVER gone to before. Go in to the Service Department and ask a Service Writer which Mechanic has the MOST EXPERIENCE. Give all of the Service Writers a batch of Cookies or two. Then, go to that Mechanic and tell him that you were just told that he is the best. Tell him you want him to do the work on your Toyota in the future. Then give him the rest of the Cookies. Then ask him this question: Is there such a thing as a 'Sludge Problem' in Toyota engines? (do not say a word, listen to everything he says and let me know.)
You see, the TRUTH will be found if you know where to go. Jim Press does not really know about the 'Sludge Problem'. He only knows how to COVER-UP the problem.(Money & Lawyers.) These Mechanics WILL tell you the TRUTH! CEO's & COO's & Executives & Lawyers & Politicians & Arbitrators & Lobbiests & Owners of Companys & Manages at Companys are all trained to COVER IT UP. Guess what? It is all being UNCOVERED! I wonder if the 82 year old Founder of Adelphia Cable & his 51 year old son are eager to go to Prison in a few more weeks for FRAUD CHARGES! Also, the Hollinger Media CEO and three of his Executives are going to Prison too. And we will soon see how many years Joe Nacchio gets next week for LYING! It's all coming out. The TRUTH is the most POWERFUL force in the Universe.
And just think, a few batches of Chocolate Chip Cookies is all you need to get it!

What make(s) and model(s) of Toyota are you most seeing this in? I own a 1998 Corolla with 175,000 miles on it. It runs like brand new, does not use oil, and still averages 34 MPG every week. I have changed the oil in it every 5000 - 7500 miles since I first purchased it in September 2001. At that time the car had 32,000 miles on it. It was a "Certified Pre-Owned" that I purchased from a Toyota dealership in Missouri.
In the time I have owned the car it has needed one repair. I had to replace the starter in 2005, probably because I had not kept up with changing the plugs and wires (and a few other items on the PM checklist). I have also replaced the front brakes once (fall 2004), the battery (summer 2005), and gone through at least 3 sets of tires.
Now I am married to a mechanic and he does all of the preventative maintenance for me - but we still only change the oil every 5000 - 7500 miles.
We have used Castrol 5w-30 the entire time. Could the "engine sludge" problem be caused and/or exacerbated by people using too heavy of an oil? The user's manual specifically recommends 5w-30 (which is typical in today's aluminum head 4-cylinder engines). We use Castrol because that is what the previous owner used.
Don't get me wrong - I do not baby my car. Oil changes are the only maintenance done on any kind of regular schedule. In 6-1/2 years I've put 140,000+ miles on it. It has driven in traffic and on highways from Harrison, MI to New Orleans, LA, at speeds from 15 - 85 mph. It has survived long highways, bumper-to-bumper city traffic, gravel roads, Detroit potholes, and one 'deer attack' (replaced the headlight and hood).
At this rate my Corolla will be my 12-year-old's first vehicle. By the time she starts driving I plan to replace my '98 with a new hybrid Corolla.

Contact the Bank or Credit Union where your vehicle is financed and GET THE COPIES that THEY RECEIVED FROM THE DEALERSHIP!! The ones that you have COULD be wrong, even though the monthly payment is what you agreed upon!!
You COULD have an EXTENDED WARRANTY in your deal that you DON'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT!! Also, check ALL loan documents that you receive back FROM THE BANK or CREDIT UNION!! Your signature COULD have been FORGED and your MONTHLY INCOME could have been raised WITHOUT your consent or your knowledge so the loan would go through!!
If this is the case, contact a Lawyer & the Media right away!!
ALSO, if Car Dealerships are doing this, then MORTGAGE COMPANIES could be doing it too!!
CONTACT your MORTGAGE COMPANY and demand COPIES of ALL the legal documents that were submitted by your MORTGAGE LENDER and review them for FORGED signatures & altered pieces of information like; INCOME & TIME on the JOB!! Also get copies of all "PROOF OF INCOME" and make certain that it was the original you gave them!! Get the PAY-STUBS also!! They COULD have altered your INCOME so the loan would go through!!
IF you have documents that do not look like the ones YOU filled out- CALL A LAWYER and get help ASAP!!
WE CANNOT rely on our government anymore for help!! We cannot TRUST ANYONE in any position of POWER ever again!!
PROTECT yourself and YOUR RIGHTS!!!!

All Americans who are facing FORECLOSURE or those who are in the FORECLOSURE process; YOU MUST DO THIS!!!
Contact the Bank or Mortgage Company that received your paperwork & legal documents from the ones who processed your loan!! WHY?
Because there is a CHANCE that some, most, or even ALL of the legal documents were ALTERED or even FORGED by someone in the processing system of your loan!! WHY?
Because many people DO NOT QUALIFY for a loan with the information that the customer provided to the lender!! So, some lenders COULD alter the info on your - 1) CREDIT APPLICATION. 2)Your PAY-STUBS, etc. If this is true, and YOUR legal paperwork was "tampered" with by someone at the lending process of your loan, then the loan is NOT VALID, correct??
Get EVERY PIECE of legal paperwork from the Mortgage Company that received it from the people who were involved in your loan!!
This COULD be your ticket to FREEDOM!! If they were doing this in the Car Business, then they COULD have been doing it in the Mortgage Business, wouldn't you agree??
A simple PHONE CALL is all it takes!! My guess (and this is just MY OPINION) is that at least 5% of all Home Loans & Car loans were somehow altered in some way WITHOUT your knowledge! IF you can prove this, then YOU can potentially get OUT OF YOUR LOAN and EVEN RECOUP DAMAGES!! For your HOME & AUTO!!!
We cannot TRUST our government to help us ever again!! The government (in my opinion) is being controlled by the many corporations in America- like the OIL Companies & the Pharmaceutical Companies & the Banking System, including the FED!!

FACT: Four months after it was posted, the stock market crashed and the banking system in the USA collapsed.
