Jeep Service Center AKA Carburetor of Texas, Owner Ray Bell kept my 72 Rancher for 5 months! The car was taken in originally for work to be done on the rear end and to repack the rear. I was quoted $200 for that. He also checked for an oil leak and he said it had a cracked valve. That was the first 30 days! He finally quoted me $3400 for the engine to be rebuilt and rear end work. Instead, the final bill was almost $5300!
This man knew he was charging up the bill to a young female college student whose only income at the moment is a waitress. He would not pick up the engine for weeks from the place that rebuilt it. I finally had to go there myself and find out what the problem was. I was told he had not even paid for it yet even though he was given the $1600 up front to have it done. I called him about it and he finally went over a week later and paid for it and had it picked up. It took him another three and a half weeks to put the engine back in.
He told me he had all the parts to complete the work and yet every time I called he had another part he said needed to be replaced. Some parts were some I already had replaced somewhere else. Said he replaced brakes. He did NOT. Brakes had already been done. I did NOT give him permission to replace brakes nor some other things. When I picked it up it made a squealing noise. I stopped somewhere to have it checked. The noise was due to there was not one drop of brake fluid in it! I almost burned up the power steering pump. I am not sure yet if damage was done to the power steering pump due to his incompetence. I gave him $1600 up front to pay for the engine to be rebuilt and another $1000 after that.
In addition, I had to buy other parts myself and take them to him such as headers, etc because he was too LAZY to get the parts himself and did not have the money to even buy the parts. He would take in new work every single day and put off completing my car.
Every couple of days he would give me the day it would be completed and every time I went to get it he would give me another date with one lame excuse after another. Finally after 5 months I picked it up and I had to take it to a muffler shop and pay another $364 because Ray Bell did not connect the mufflers to the headers. I chose to take it there because I was not going to intrust him to do the work properly nor in a timely manner. I now know the REAL reason he lost his business partner he had. Who would want a business partner that has this type of reputation???!!!
Does this man honestly believe that God will bless his business or anything else he does with this type of business practice???!!! SURELY NOT!!
