Modern Engine Inc. Aslanian and Mechanics Faulty Installation of Engine for a Landrover 2005. Engine blew up and claim it was not their fault. Glendale, California

Modern Engine Inc. has been in business since 1980. Every month it ranges from 800 to 1200 vehicles going through the facility. We work with different types of accounts; it varies from Glendale Police Department to Hwy patrol professional ambulance also retail accounts’.  Modern Engine has more volume than a new car dealership.

This particular individual drove the vehicle without coolent, which was his responsibility to check before perusing. He then turned around and blamed Modern Engine for the problems that his car had given. He stated that it was our fault that he drove the car without coolant. Being a respectful business Modern Engine decided to help customer with a courtesy cost on all of the labor and parts. With his freewill he did not agree and took us to court. after the judge reviewed the case he questioned the individual by saying “If I was trying to change my oil and  the filter and draining the oil forgot to put oil back in the engine, and drove the vehicle, it would damage the engine and I can not ask this people to go ahead and replace the engine because of my lack of common sense. We all know that land rover is not a cheap maintaining vehicle, and the price they gave you was incredible; however you decided not to take advantage from their offer.” The claim was for the defendant, Modern Engine Inc. you can check the case yourselves just copy and paste this link

What matters is not those vehicles, but the ONE you worked on. As discussed, this does open the possibility that the installation of a piston, which is very complicated, can be measured incorrectly causing the piston to overheat and fail. The vehicle had sufficient coolent and oil. The vehicle went back in forth 3 times for problems with the engine between Feb and March. Then blows up on the freeway in June, causing 1 piston to melt. (Which was later investigated to have had the ring installed improperly.) See Further

There were several attempts to make arrangements; even after submitting an expert statement demonstrating that the said damage was due to an installation issue.  The best Modern Engine Inc. offered was to charge an additional 3k to "rebuild the engine all over again".

The only defense Modern Engine Inc. had was a booklet describing 1 possibility of having a piston burn. (Of course there are not 1 thousand other booklets describing the complete contrary.)

Modern Engine Inc. had the audacity to state, "Why didn't you tow your vehicle with 2 boxes full of a thousand parts to another mechanic shop?"  Because after speaking with over a dozen mechanics, after seeing how the engine was stripped into pieces and already begun being worked on and cleaned (Without my permission); that it is hard to discover what happened at all. Besides seeing a cleaned melted piston.

Luckily, I found a retired mechanic that was willing to spend the day to analyze each piston and part individually; however, it appears that generalized book weighed more than a mechanic with 30 yrs experience.

(BTW I bet it is an asset to Glendale since you offer such amazing service to their local police department; it was obvious when the bailiff knew your name by heart after you walked into the court room 30 minutes late. (Or maybe you are sued often)

As a consumer, it is a huge risk to get an engine rebuilt... it was a dream to have that car in working condition, you are better off not rebuilding, unless the warranty is better than Modern Engines Inc. Compare it to that of US Fidelis.
