I brought my 1990 Toyota 4 Runner to Tom Remy, who owns the Lakewood, CO Meineke Car Care Center in Lakewood, CO for a simple break repair job.
The mechanic/shop manager (who I am assuming doesn't work there anymore...) quickly advised me my Truck was misfiring and was in need of an engine replacement, he suggested a complete engine rebuild and quoted me roughly $3200.
I knew the truck needed a new engine so I went ahead and agreed to have them rebuild the engine, they originally quoted me 1 month for completion.
Three months later (not 1 month) after over a dozen of schedule completion dates missed, excuses that they were having problems with parts etc.. they finally said the truck was ready to go.
I went to pick up the 4 Runner and was surprised that the check engine light was on... The 'shop manager' blamed it on a bad noc sensor... After lie, after lie I decided to take it to another technician, this time a Toyota Certified one who quickly diagnosed it as a bad engine rebuild.
I took the 4 Runner back to Meineke after they swore under their breath it was the noc sensor... Knowing it wasn't the noc sensor, I agreed to have them replace the noc sensor, which they did and the engine still misfired.
I finally got my attorney involved... Tom Remy/ Meineke Car Care Center again lied to my attorney giving them 3 different days of completion which of course, never happened.
Two more months go by and they still can't fix the truck, they obviously have technicians who have no clue what they are doing...
They finally said they would replace the engine with a new one (5 months after the fact). I agreed and they to-date have failed to respond to my; go-ahead.
These guys are some serious con-artist. I even called Denver's "Tom Martino" who was easily suckered into the same line of B/S that I was... Now I think I'm going to blog about it, maybe that will get someones attention?
Monday (tomorrow from the date of this post) I will be filling a lawsuit against Menieke Car Care Center in the County Court.
My final thought...
I purchased this vehicle so I would have a safe car for my expected newborn.. That day is here and I have a car back that was returned to me in worse condition then when I originally dropped it off.
AVOID THEM AT ALL COST! I wanted to believe they had my best interest in mind - but they don't. All I wanted was a refund, now I will be going after them for nearly $15K in loss wages, repair cost and various other fees I feel I am entitled to.
