I purchased a fuel pump module from Global Automotive on July 23, 2007 via ebay. It failed on February 23, 2008. I had my vehicle towed home and emailed Global Automotive.

Global's response on February 24, 2008 was "Please send the item back to us along with a print out of your paypal receipt and we will exchange." I shipped the pump out with the pay pal receipt on February 27 via UPS and it was received by Global Automotive on February 28, 2008. Since that time I can not get a response from Kevin Simmons or Global Automotive as to when I will receive my new pump. My truck has now been down for over 3 weeks.

I have sent numerous (daily) emails and have contacted ebay. Ebay gave me the phone number for this person and I have now left numerous messages at various times of the day and night. I told Global / Kevin that if I had no response before 3/17/2008 (today) that I would start to file reports on them.

Global apparently doesn't give a hoot. Buyer beware - do not believe any warranty on ebay. I have never had a bad experience with ebay until now. Global Automotive can either return my money or send me a new pump. They have 7 for sale currently on ebay.

KEVIN SIMMONS AND GLOBAL AUTOMOTIVE SHOULD RECEIVE A RIP OFF AWARD.

I am not that far from Miami and I certainly am ready to ... except my vehicle is not running thanks to Global Automotive.

Global Automotive's Warranty and Rebuttal

AUTHOR: Kevin - Miami (U.S.A.)

Dear Buyer and Ripoff Report Community,

We are responding to this claim in an effort to shed some light on the truth and clear our company's good name.

First a little background, Global Automotive has been in the fuel systems industry and it our primary line of distribution. We know the fuel system very well as we have worked very closely with OEM and aftermarket manufacturers. Our main operation is wholesale distribution, but we also sell direct to end users.

Contrary to popular belief, a lot of individuals are not properly trained to install nor diagnose the fuel system. We have a lot of customers trying to install these fuel pumps and not taking the precautionary measures needs at time of installation. The fuel system is also very complex and has many integrated parts. Buyers cannot just blame the fuel pump as the cause of failure without properly diagnosing.

We work directly with several certified dealership techs and all of them will tell you that to properly measure the pressure of a fuel pump is from the feeder hose running of the fuel tank. MEASUREMENTS TAKEN AT THE FUEL RAIL ARE INADEQUETE AND INNACURATE FOR DIAGNOSING A FUEL PUMP.

With that being said, our warranty clearly states that all fuel pumps be installed by a professional technician that specializes in fuel systems. GM dealership or GM goodwrench service centers are a couple good examples. In our experience we have found that most ASE techs and backyard installers are not qualified to install these fuel pumps as they just drop the tank and go leaving a dirty fuel system. Below you will find the exact wording from our warranty:

""Global-Automotive warrants this part for a period of 12 months from date of purchase. We will replace any part shown to be defective in workmanship during this period. A copy of proof of purchase & this warranty certificate must accompany all returned products. Failure to provide said documents will void warranty. All defective parts must be returned to us for inspection & testing before a replacement can be issued. Global-Automotive will not warranty working parts.

Global-Automotive's liability shall be limited to the replacement of the product deemed to be defective. All sales are final, no refunds. Any part which has been altered in any way, accidentally damage during installation, improperly installed, or not used for its' intended purpose, will not be warranted. We do not cover towing, rental vehicles, loss of time, labor charges, or economic loss of any kind.

Global-Automotive requires that part be installed by a professional. Installer must reference & follow the installation guide below:

http://www.carterfueldelivery.com/fuelpumps/pdf/support/TEC1620.pdf

Failure to following the above installation guide will VOID warranty!""

Global Automotive has also invested a lot in testing equipment. We test and measure all returned fuel pumps for accuracy. Of the few that come back, we have found that 98% test well within spec and are fully functional. We cannot warranty parts that are fully functional as a new fuel pump will not cure the REAL problem.

We welcome buyers to send back items they think are defective so we can test. Global Automotive WILL replace any part that has tested outside spec. If any item tests within spec, then we notify the buyer of this and send the part back to them.

Thanks you,
Global Automotive
