I purchased a ignition control module for my 2003 Saturn Ion on Ebay from Global Automotive. It was listed as "Brand new" with a 1 year warranty. I received it on Jan. 28th,2009. When I received the part, it was wrapped in a piece of bubble wrap only with no packing slip or warranty info. I removed it from the wrap only to find a dusty, dirty, scratched up module. I immediately contacted Global automotive with this email:

The ignition module I ordered is listed as new ignition module 2003-2006 Saturn Ion D1968D. I received it today wrapped in bubble wrap and it is not new it is dirty, scratched, and used. Looks as though it was removed from a salvage yard or parts car. Why was this listed as a new part? I need a new module!

I got a response on Jan. 29th that said:
Dear Valued Customer,

We purchase these in bulk direct from Delphi. These are brand new as advertised. There might be some straches ue to the way we receive them, but they are brand new. We have paid invoice to prove this.

Please have this installed by a professional mechanic, so they can diagnose properly.

Thank you,
Management

I then again contacted them with another email on Jan. 30th that said:

Dear global-automotive,

The module was wrapped in bubble wrap only and in a postal service box. There was no receipt or paperwork included in the shipped box.Only on the front of the box is the shipping info. It was advertised as new but clearly is used. I will send pics if needed. It has scratches in the holes where the screws go in.The module is dusty and dirty.

They replied back the same day with this email:

Dear Valued Customer,
We purchase these in bulk direct from Delphi and they are brand new. They might have some scuffs and dust on them due to the way they are shipped to us, but they are brand new. We know these are good and will owrk perfectly.

If you do not want this part, then please send it back to us along with a print out of this email and we will refund.

Being that we sell only OEM modules, we mark them so please make sure we get back our part.

Thank you,
Management

What can I do? Its their word against mine! This company needs to be banned from selling on sites such as Ebay. Due to not being able to leave negative feedback on Ebay anymore, others are probably going through the same thing!

New Parts Can be Rusty, Scratched, Etc.

AUTHOR: Jeff - Manda (U.S.A.)

I've bought new parts from Kia, GM, Ford, etc, that have been scratched and/or RUSTY. If stuff sits on the shelf, dust, rust, etc can build up.
