Engine purchased from Autozone and installed by licensed mechanic. Warranty was for 3yrs or unlimited mileage. Head gasket blew after 2/yrs and 30,000 miles. Pictures of head, motor, and gasket were sent to warranty department. This head gasket was installed by Marshall. Marshall states the headgasket shows signs of being run lean and this is why the head gasket blew. The engine fuel is computer controlled. Plugs loook good. Another case of Marshall not standing behind their warranty. The repair cost me $580. Do not purchase a Marshall Engine. The extra money for the warranty is a complete waist as they will not stand behind it. The cheap head gasket was made in china and failed. Marshall states the engine overheated. They couldn't make up their mind which one caused the failure (lean combustion or heat). The engine didn't overheat until the head gasket blew. Head is still straight so it couldn't have gotten very hot and the heat mark on head was still intact. They actually stated it had sagged from heat. What ever! Do not buy from this company. Check with BBB. They had 20 complaints last year about warranty claims.

I'm Sorry You're Dealing With This

AUTHOR: Jeff - Manda (U.S.A.)

Sorry you're dealing with this. Country of origin stopped being a legitimate concern about 15 years ago on auto parts. Chances are the head gasket in half the cars you see on the road today was made in China. Heck, GM is producing many of their engines in China now, as is Toyota, etc.

The root of your complaint is the head gasket. To cut to the chase, I don't know of any warranty that would be honored on an engine from any company on a blown head gasket. Most warranties specifically state that a blown head gasket voids said warranty. Expecting a company to honor a warranty on an engine with a blown head gasket is like expecting a real estate agent to get you another house if yours burns down. Head gaskets fail due to overheating, and overheating is 99/100 times external to the engine.

" . They couldn't make up their mind which one caused the failure (lean combustion or heat). "

You're kidding, right?   If not, I hate to inform you that the primary symptom of a lean mixture is.......wait for it........  excess HEAT!   I don't think you know what you're complaining about.

The engine didn't overheat until the head gasket blew.  "

It's actually the other way around.   Run the engine too hot and the head gasket will blow.   If you keep running it, then the heads will warp.
