I went to Sears Auto Center to replace the battery on my grandmother's car yesterday, Monday, May 11th, 2009. I was told that the last battery was purchased in 2004 for her vehicle. Usually batteries in Arizona do not last near five years and I was sure the battery was dead after many attempts of trying to jump it.

The first man I spoke with told me it would take an hour and a half for them to charge the battery and get an accuate reading of whether or not it was good or bad. I just wanted to buy a new battery, but they would not let me unless it was truly a bad battery.

I waited almost two hours and received no phone call like they said they would do. I went back to the store and ignored at first finally got someone to go check on the battery for me.

They then went on to tell met that the battery was "over-charged" and that he had no answer for me and it would be another 45 minutes. Very irritated and with no other choice at this point, was forced to wait. Another hour goes by with no phone call.

I return to the store for the third time this day. The man quickly went to obtain my battery and came back telling me the batter was good.
I still wanted a new battery, but was not going to receive the warranty rebate for the battery. So, upset and feeling very disrespected by all the employees at the store, I left.

I then went to Checker Auto Parts to purchse a brand new battery with a new warranty. I brought the so called "good-battery" that Sears had given me back and in less tahn 10 minutes the employees at Checker told me the battery was indeed dead and needed a replacement. He tested it on two different machines and gave me documentation of the results.

I am never going back to Sears Auto Center again because of the way they treated me. They were completely rude to me and after three hours gave me inaccurate information on a battery. It was a simple task that should not have been so complicated. I feel that I was definitely taken advantage of and would not reccomend that anyone return to that store for any reason.
