I was looking for a drive shaft for a '92 F-250. Thoroughbred responded "we have it" (which is a crock...they'd respond similarly if you asked for a thumbscrew for an antelope, I've found out since).

Called on April 8; put on hold for 20 mins; some ditz--who could barely manage one train of thought, nevermind the 3 conversations she was trying to have simultaneously-- finally picked up; yeah, we'll ship it out tomorrow (Friday)--how's $200 sound?. $180 sounds better, I said; $180 we agreed. "I'll ship it tomorrow--it'll be there Wednesday. Call me back Monday for tracking number". Called back..."too busy now, I'll call you back". Of course, she never did.

Friday comes, no part, no call. I called them back..."if you haven't shipped this already, cancel my order; I've found someone that will rebuild the old drive shaft here is town for $150". "Um, yeah, well, duh, ummmmm, I'll have to see if it's been shipped; I'll call ya back". Surprise! He returned the call within 30 minutes. "We don't have it; I'm refunding your credit card". (I dropped the old shaft off at Brakes, Inc in Raleigh, NC at noon...the new shaft was ready at 4pm!! Great folks to work with!)

That was April 13...no credit as of today, May 25. Just called..."we shipped it April 17th; the reason we haven't refunded your money is because you haven't sent it back". Nonononononono...after reminding him that it was HE who said "we don't have it/never shipped" he agreed to refund (again). "I've got your CC#; I'll take care of that now". I'll report back whether or not he did.
By the way, I called my CC company this past Monday when I noticed the charge hadn't been refunded, and I just called them again to let them know what's transpired today. It's always good to have a 'track record' with the CC company, particularly when there's a very good change you might have to involve them in a dispute.

Hi Terry-

I know it has been a while since your incident. John Bardino owned S & J Auto Parts (check the ripoff reports... same m.o.), declared bankruptcy about a year and a half ago and shut down. The crook is doing business at the same location under the name of Thoroughbred auto parts ripping people off just like he did before. He stole $6,000 from my daughter before S&J closed and my daughter never received a penny back. Please consider filing a report with the FBI. I am including the information to take you directly to the FBI web site. Search Thoroughbred Auto Parts and see what he is doing. Charles Bardino who owns Bardino Motors,at the exact same address, has registered in his name a 27ft. yacht named "EMPTY POCKETS." I can only encourage you to file with the FBI. God bless, Momma Bear

I was in need of front & rear glass for a 2004 GMC Envoy. Through a couple of other websites I found out about Thoroughbred. I called them, placed my order & made the payment. In hindsight I should have done more research on any and all companies I find on the internet before doing business. Anyway, I was a little nervous because I did not have a call returned to me for a couple days, then I came across this exact article and it scared me pretty good to say the least. I called Thoroughbred to try and get more info/to cancel my order and get my money back. I don't know why but I ended up giving them a chance. It took a couple days because they were finding the part throughout the country, as THEY ARE A PARTS LOCATOR, NOT A SALVAGE YARD, OR AN AUTO PARTS SHOP. Anyway, I am happy to say that it all worked out and I got my parts with ZERO DEFECTS. Around my area the parts were about $250 for the front glass & about $900 for the rear glass, I was even quoted higher. Through Thoroughbred it was $150 for the front glass & about $400 for the rear glass. Needless to say I thank them for there service and that I would be more than willing to do business with them again.
