Virgil Griffith VGMotorsports Crankshaft Crooks working together to sell defective crankshafts only to send a cracked crank and hide sadieville, Kentucky

Seems like Virgil Griffith at VGMotorsports has gone the same path that Doug Rowe at Crankshaft Specialist has gone down. Griffith advertises hemi crankshafts of various sizes and asked that you call him. In asking him about the condition of the cranks, he says that they are in great condition and that Doug Rowe at Crankshaft Specialists in Memphis Tennessee has checked the cranks out and approves them for use. Griffith says he donates his profits to a charity of some sort and that he is an honest man to deal with. So, based on the impression I got during several phone calls to Virgil Griffith, I sent him a money order for $950 for a 4.375 hemi crankshaft to be in good usable undamaged condition.

After numerous delays and weeks of waiting for the crank to arrive, I finally told Virgil to keep the crank and refund my money. He calls back in a few minutes to say that Doug Rowe has already shipping the crank and it should arrive soon. A crankshaft arrives in a week or so and as soon as I open the box, I take this crank to my machine shop and they find TWO major cracks in it AND a helicoil in the flange.

I contact Griffith and inform him of the cracks. He tries to explain them away and has Doug Rowe call me to try to explain them away. Doug agrees to send me a replacement crank. Weeks go by and to replacement crank. The last phone conversation I had with Griffith he told me that he was NOT going to make the crankshaft replacement after all and that if I sent it back to him anyways that he would just keep it, too.

Beware of the Virgil Griffith and Doug Rowe team of crooks.
