I rented a 2009 Dodge Nitro from the Ft. Myers, Fl. airport for one day. I did not opt for any additional insurance. I looked over the vehicle before I rented it and proceeded to the gate that was attended by an Alamo employee. I indicated to him that I noticed a small scratch on the bumper. He said I was all set. I drove to Miami and turned in the rental car at the Miami International Airport. During the checkout process I was informed that I had to turn this slip inside the office because of vehicle damage. I informed the clerk inside that the damage was reported at the time of rental. They said, "Okay sir, your all set, just sign here and you'll be on your way". I recieved a letter indicating damage to the vehicle I should contact my insurance company. I phoned them right away (Alamo Damage Recovery) and was giving awful customer service they told me nothing regarding this "claim", I was disconnected and I did not hear back for about 6 months. I recently received a notice of Total amount due: $1030.20 for vehicle damage. After reviewing their claim it looks like they replaced the rear bumper? The scratch that I noticed was on the front bumper. I phoned the damage recovery unit contact person (Carolyn) , she informed me my claim has already been turned over to collections. Please be aware of this complete scam. Is my credit now going to suffer? I will not pay a dime on these fraudulant claim by Alamo.
