Hertz RIP-OFF After I purchased all the damage waivers Comp & Collision following having an accident the still charged m $600 for what they called unwaiverable damages Charleroi Brussels Internet

While touring Brussels, we rented a car from HERTZ at the Charleroi Airport. We puchased all the damage waivers. Comp and Collision.

We had an accident and filed the appropriate papers with the agent of Hertz. No mention of unwaveralbe damages were ever presented and as I can see on the paperwork, there appeared to be no mention of such damages.

I was an insurance agent prior to my current occupation and Know that Collision covers physical damage and Comprehensive covers everything else.

The is certainly unfair business practice by Hertz and will never get any of my business again.

Footnote: I work for a major Non-Profit company and had thought about selling my fleet of vehicles and use a contract with Hertz, as a result, I have reported this abuse to the corporation and will never use hertz again.

Non Waiverable Excess when buying Loss Damage Waiver

I am an employee at the Hertz Reservation Center in Oklahoma City. Each agent is required to advise of the Non Waiverable Fee, when a customer desires information regarding Loss Damage Waiver (not insurance, since we are not bonded). International locations will always have a Non Waiverable Excess, which is determined by the type and size of car. People can purchase a Super CDW, which waives this fee, and it is mandatory to offer this, if the customer opts for the CDW (this information can be found on the Hertz Website). I've worked here for 10 years, and am amazed on how many people fail to realize that these are legal binding contracts. Hertz is a reputtable company, and has nothing to hide.

No explaination was given

No explaination of Unwaverable damaages was give at time of rental car.

I sold USA Insurace and have full understanding of contracts.

This Hertz Employee obviously is not as knowledgable as they claim. When I contacted Hertz USA at a location in my community, they too could not explain unwaiverable damages.

Hertz is still a rip off company.

Collision Damage Waiver

Here is some information directly from Hertz.com:

This option limits your financial liability for damage to the Hertz vehicle, its parts and accessories, except theft, attempted theft or vandalism, provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement.

If CDW is declined, you will be responsible for damage up to the deductible amount ranging from EUR 10,000.00 to EUR 44,000.00 depending on the vehicle rented.

CDW Non-Waivable Excess. All rentals are subject to a non-waivable excess ranging from EUR 500.00 to EUR 2,200.00 depending on the vehicle group rented, for which you are responsible in the event of damage to the Hertz vehicle during the rental.

You can further reduce your excess liability - Please check "Super CDW" or the "Super CDW/TP package" in the location index for additional information.

This is common among the rental companies throughout Europe and is fully stated within each signed contract. Is it the fault of these companies, that renters fail to read the terms and conditions of the contract. Also, within the contract it states that the renter must abide by the contract or the CDW will be voided out.

If you choose to rely on your credit card for cover, we strongly recommend that you fully understand the terms and conditions of any cover provided by your credit card company before you decline any of our optional services.

Herts still un fair, renter beware.

Still a way to fleece tourists. if it was ok, US rentals would do it to. There are several reported incidents of misleading tourists, so the bottom line is

READ EVERYTHING, DON'T TRUST THE CLERK TO EXPLAIN, THEY WON'T SINCE THEY BARELY SPEAK ENGLISH.

CDW and Hertz

I agree with the last statement of the consumer. Read each and everything, and write down who you are dealing with. It is not customary for Hertz to "dupe" their customers, and the only way to get rid of these types of people is to bring it to the attention of Customer Service. At the reservation center, and on the web site, we try our best to give the most accurate information, and are available 24 hours a day. It is our policy to give complete, available, accurate information. There are many factors in renting a car, and we all hope that all steps go smoothly and that all parties will give and provide the best customer service.
