On 10/03/01 I took my 1993 Isuzu Rodeo to Aamco Transmissions in Wheaton, Illinois since my check transmission light was flashing and it would bog down on acceleration. Aamco-Wheaton informed me that they could do an electronic diagnostic on the Rodeo for $165.00. Well, that turned up nothing, as expected and for a total of $465.00 they will open up the transmission and take a look at it.

As you guess, that turned up everything...according to them I needed my transmission rebuilt at the cost of $2,479.08. Well, they did it. I picked up my Rodeo on 10/12/01 and within a week experenced the same problem as when I originially took it in. I took it back 5 sepereate times and was told that it must be the gas that I was using. Apparently Mobil gas is not good enough, they suggested that I use Shell. Give me a break!

Finally on 11/2/01, it did it again, the check trans light was flashing and I was able to make it to Aamco. Well, diferent story now. They had the Rodeo from 11/02/01 to 11/28/01. Since 10/03/01 when I orginially took it in, till 11/28/01 when I got it back they have had the Rodeo a total of 36 days! This time they claim it was the "force motor" within the transmission. Well, within 5 hours of picking the Rodeo up, I am back to square one, my check transmission light is flashing! Aamco Corporate is going thru the motions but have not done anything to assist me. I have requested a copy of all the parts replaced at least 5 times now and still do not have them. They will not allow me to take it to the dealer, although that is who Aamco-Wheaton kept calling for assistance.

I am currently without a vehicle again. I am out $2,479.08, and no one at Aamco seems to be to concerned with helping me, but why should they, they already have my money!

Word of advice, stay away from Aamco.

ISUZU / GENERAL MOTORS .. happy to help you with questions

AUTHOR: Joe - Richmond (U.S.A.)

Proper Diagnosis: A diagnosis of this trans a 4l30e which is basicly the same as a catera caddy~~~~~~~an some bmw models~~~~includes oil pressure specs along with electrical diagnosis~~~this will determine if fault is hydralic or electric.

With a internal inspection mechanical damage is verified. The sucton filter needs to be disasembled to determine damage, if not present in the open pan inspection.~~~The pan inspection is LAST in the checks if any of the pressure checks fail~~electical checks for values of solonoids/electric pressure control solonoids/lock up solonoids can all be done without removal of pan to verify (electrical) operation of parts.

Hydralic sides of these parts are verified with the pressure checks~~~if the hydralics don't check out it could be internal or at the electrical parts. This is determined by bench test of the parts by a solonoid tester for leaks.

This requires them to be removed. Since i'm sure this whole situation was improper diagnosis~~~that your problem seems to be a fuel or fuel control related problem.

Which would have not required any work at the transmission~~other than electrical sensors~~~i would be happy to help you with questions you could ask to help resolve this~~~~~thanks joe~~~~~32 years exp~~~~~~drivetrain tech
