Aamco Merriam is a prime example of why this website was created.

Don't spend a dime here. I wouldn't let these people touch my car again for free.

We took our car here because we suspected a transmission problem and noticed their "free" diagnositic test offer. Well all that means is that they drive it around the block and then tell you you need to pay for the $100+ to hookup it up to the computer for the real diagnostic test.

We fell for it and paid for the diagnostic. The diagnostic test indicated that the vehicle need a tune up ($400+). I questioned the employee "John" because the issues seemed more significant than a tune up would fix. I was assured the tune up would fix the problems. Keep in mind this is a 2001 vehicle and we were at the point of not wanting to spend a lot of money on it and were comtemplating just getting rid of it. After the $400+ tune up we were then told that the vehicle actually needed a new catalytic converter ($600).

As you might imagine I was upset at this point. We would have never spent the $400 in the first place unless we were told it would fix the problem. I specifially questioned "John" about this prior to the work being done. After the fact he claims that he told me that the tune up was needed to even see what the problem was. LIE, LIE, LIE. Again we wouldv'e never OK'd the $400 tune up. At this point I'm questioning the point of the $100+ diagnostic test that apparently can't diagnosis anything. I expressed my unhappiness to "John" who is also apparently the customer service guy (that is hilarious...) and they offer $100 discount on the catalytic converter. No thanks, no way I'm paying these guys another penny. How about a refund on a portion of inflated tune up costs?!?! "John" also wouldn't tell me who the name of the owner which is interesting on it's own..... This place is very shady please don't waste your time and money here. Please also do an internet search prior to having work done here. I wish we would have! There are a number of other people with similar issues/problems.

I was just shown this report, and was very sorry to hear about the service and treatment this customer received. I am the new owner of the Aamco in Merriam, KS, and I regret that this individual had a bad experience at my store with the previous owner & personnel. I took over this franchise earlier this year and I have had to replace all of the employees that previously worked at this store. I obviously don't know what all happened in this situation, but I'm sorry that this customer left dissatisfied. I understand if this customer would never want to come back here, but they are welcome any time, and I will do everything in my power to make sure that we take care of any of their needs with the utmost respect, courtesy, and honesty.

 Aamco Merriam, New Owner, New Crew, New Attitude, come on in and see, and maybe there is something we can do to help mend our reputation with this individual.

I can't stand to see unhappy customers that have been treated poorly or have had an unpleasant experience at any AAMCO......Not all AAMCO's are the same and not all the employee's are the same. As of January 2010 this particular AAMCO was purchased by an Outstanding person who absolutely cares!! He put money into the staff and equipment. Warranty customers are of the highest importance!!The new managment, techs and rebuilders are some of the best at what they do. Please come in as ask to see their ASE credentials. We don't charge for any initial check out or diagnosis, the only way you would be charged is if we need to complete a trace wiring procedure or complete some extensive diagnostic flow charts, you wont be charged anything unless you give your approval first. Claire, I personally appologize for your experience....but things have changed for the better! Please come in and give us the opportunity to serve. Thanks! Did a great job for me

I just want to say Roy and his team did a great job for me, My truck broke down on Friday 2/2012 at a job site(transmission out) I had no way and time to check out any repair shops, My helper had a smart phone and punched in transmission shops and 4 came up. Called AAMCO on Merriam and Roy told me we will treat you right and he did. They came and towed it to the shop and had the problem figure out, truck was fixed by 11:00 the next day(some power supply going to the tranny was out) Saved me thousand of dollars.I thought for sure the tranny was gone or the pump was bad. Thanks again to Roy and Jeremiah. BTW Jeremiah had Saturday off and he came in to finsh my truck.    Dave 505-688-4336
