car x $700.00 plus for front bearings that went bad within 2 years. replaced left within 14 mo. Now right is loose. West Chester, Ohio

This customer had both front wheel bearings replaced on 7-31-09 the vehicle mileage was 86,339. On 8-31-09 one of the two bearings failed and it was beyond our 12mo. 12,000 mi. warranty both on time and mileage. The vehicle had accumulated 16,600 over the past 13 months. The following day after the last repair this customer called and asked if we could make some type of adjustment due to the short time out of warranty.

 I agreed, after the fact, to offer him an in store credit for $100.00 to show good faith he agreed that would be satisfactory. If he would have made an attempt at the time of purchase to negotiate with the manager an adjustment could have been made of greater value to him yet he waited, called the following day agreed to a solution and then sent a ripoff report after that. Now he has gone to another vendor for service two years since the initial service. They have offered an opinion on the opposite side bearing regarding its condition yet there was no driveability complaint. My recommendation would be for this customer to return to Car-X  get a second opinion and take advantage of the $100.00 store credit if replacement is necessary. I would further suggest that a man of the age he described himself to be, might benefit by calling me personally or the store manager to achieve the desired result that I think he is hoping to achieve instead of broadcasting stories on the internet which benefit no one. Our organization is rated "A"+ WITH THE "BBB'. We use parts of the highest quality and employ  'ASE'  certified technicians. The parts installed on this car where from a major brand name vendor and are of the highest quality. They still are subject to premature failure just like anything else.

The original front wheel bearings lasted for over 86,000 miles. The Car X installed front left wheel bearing lasted 16,000 miles, the right front Car X installed wheel bearing lasted 29,000 miles.
