Farmers Insurance Company No Problem, File A Claim, But Expect Otrageous Rate Hike Carol Stream Illinois

Had Farmers for over 30 years between Texas and Oklahoma. They had our cars insured as well as multiple houses at one time. Had a very small fender bender in Sept. 08. $862 to my vehicle of which I paid a $750 deductible and about $500.00 to the other vehicle. Farmers paid out less than $800.

Accident was on private property. The other driver pulled in behind me after I started backing. As much her fault as mine, when I checked behind me no one was there.

In January Farmers increase my insurance rate for 6 months from around $480 to over $800. Agent stated that underwriting would not reduce this rate. I switched to State Farm and not only got coverage for $480 for 6 months but got a $250 deductible instead of $750. Go ahead and buy Farmers, just don't ever have a claim and if you do expect them to double your premium, no matter how long you have been a customer. No forgiveness from this company.
