I have a 1999 Dodge Caravan which I purchased from this dealer; the van presently has 87,000 miles; the engine was making a small sound like a possibly a "spun bearing" I took the van in for inspection and "possible" repair.
They called in late afternoon that the van would require a replacement engine for $5,200. I explained that I found that hard to accept and requested that they investigate repair of that which needed repair (replace the defective bearings) this required another day of their having my car. Late the afternoon of the 3rd day I was told van was repaired and I could pick it up.

The mechanic provided a detailed explanation of what he did and assured me the engine was repaired; that he had personaly ran the engine for over two hours and their were zero problems and should not be expected to give me any more trouble( I was concerned that I be able to make the fifty five mile trip to my residence from this dealer)I went and paid the repair bill $1007.00 for replacing rod bearing and some other maintenance.

On a hunch I decided to look under the car hood to inspect the work and listen to motor. When I started the motor I was dumbfounded to hear it making much more noise that it did when I dropped it off; I feel that either NO MAINTENANCE or possibly SHODDY MAINTENANCE was done to my car; I'm positive that had I driven away the engine would have exploded violently and I would have been out my one thousand dollars I paid.

They took my car back into their shop and now on Thursday the fourth day they tell me it won't be repaired untill tomorrow

This dealership is gunho on selling me the five thousand dollar motor as the olny option available and I really feel a qualified mechanic SHOULD be able to remove and replace main bearings and rod bearings WITHOUT the engine making noises like the rods are going to bust through the side of the block.

To the company's credit they are providing a "loaner" car for my use; but the ONE THOUSAND dollars pays for that

you asked for it you got it.

They told you it needed a motor you ( knowing more than a expieranced mechanic) decided he was wrong he abliged you by doing only what you asked him to do and when there was a problem you blamed him for your own diagnosis. I am a ASE certified mechanic and it still amazes me that people who have never even opened a hood know so much more than me but yet still pay over $70.00 per hour for me to do what they so obviosly could do themselves.
