JUST BRAKES , sells you service that you do not need!! Port Richey Florida

This is the exact complaint that I filed with the BBB: I just wanted this to be on the rip-off report to warn others of JUST BRAKES.

My 05' Mazda 6 had been serviced at the Mazda Dealer and I was told that I needed to have my front Brakes done. I was told by the Mechanic that the back brakes were alittle worn but could wait. I decided to take my Car to Just Brakes because of the commerical that was advertised that all four wheels pads and shoes were only $99.88 at Just Brakes. I even called before taking my car in and telling them the make and model of the car and was given the the price $99.88.

I took my car in on the day of my appointment, which was on April 26 at 9:30am. I was running late so I called to let them know I was just about there not to cancel my appt.

Once I arrived I was told that my brake job would cost about $150 because of some special pads my car needed. I asked about the commerical the service guy told me that is for "most cars". I find that hard to believe honestly! So I said fine I need them done.

I waited again inside and was then told I'd have to come back my brake pads were ordered and didn't arrive and wouldn't be there until 2pm. Why did they not tell me this when I was rushing over to them? I had to leave and come back the next day.

So I arrived the Next day April 27, 2007 at 11am. I then had to sign the bill of service that states what they will be doing to the car. Which is as follows: Replace pads and shoes on all 4 wheels, Machine rotors and drums, Pack the bearings, Inspect the balance of the brake system, Guaranteed for as long as you own your car. I was given the total of $158. I asked what happened to the $150 I was quoted yesterday, he said I dunno that was what the Service guy said it was. I said fine go ahead.

I waited then for the inspection. The mechanic took me outside and told me that my back brake system was not working properly because I didn't use my parking brake. He told me I needed to replace all 4 calipers, and he also told me that I had hardware missing from my back brakes. The price quote jumped from $99.88 to $150 to $158 now to $547. I find everything he told me hard to believe considering I had my car serviced at the Mazda Dealership and they not once told me any of this about my brake system.

This guy took me as a stupid girl that didn't know a thing about cars and was trying to sell me a bunch of stuff that I didn't need. I was really scared about this because I thought my car really needed all of this stuff so I called my husband who advised me to leave. I told the mechanic that I wanted to get a second opinion and to put my parts back on so I could leave.

He became very upset and said well I have already started on your rototars because I signed for service I had to continue with what I signed for. I didn't know what elese to do because this mechanic was very pushy with me so I said fine do my brakes or whatever it is your supposed to do and that's all I paying for.

I then leave with my mother in law and they take from 11am to 2pm to finish. I was told it take only 90 mins. I go to pay and the total was $179.63. I asked why so high it was only $158 plus tax when I left. He said they had to add labor and additional costs. I was furious at this point and just wanted the horrible experience to be over. I paid and left.

My brakes now are horrible. When I stop they appear to be sticking because they didn't do what they were suposed to do and what I paid for. They squeal alittle and they never once made any noise before I took them in to Just Brakes. I took my car back to the Mazda Dealer and had them look and they said the back Rotators were not machined and that the missing hardware thing was a bunch of BS and that my calipers were fine.

Just Brakes are famous for trying to sell service that is not needed. This came. I want my money back from JUST BRAKES and I want them to stop LYING to people in order to get business. It's not right.
