i took my car to pep boys @ 1000 s Columbus blvd. philadelphia pa 19147 june 1st 2009 at 8:30 a.m. because my battery light was coming on and my car was dieing. i made it there befor eit cut off. i told them i needed it fixed and let then have it. 2 hours later they gave me my car back with a new battery and told me the alternator was bad. so of course i said i wanted this fixed, so at around 10:40 a.m. they told me that they would be able to get my car back in the shop in about 2 hours and they were not busy and that there were two cars in front of me. i told them i had to work at 3 pm and if i should arrange a ride to work and i was told no it will deffinetly be done by then. so i stayed there. my wife jessica (((REDACTED))) had to go home for a meeting so she paid with here visa card right away at 10:45 am. and i took her home and then brought the car back to pep boys and waited for them to fix my car.

at around 1:00 pm i asked the customer service counter if they had an update on my car and i was told it wasnt even brought in to the garage yeat and that they did not know where the mechanic was and when he gets back he will get right to putting the alternator in my car. so i called my work and reported to them i would be late. now around 3:48 pm. i noticed my car still in the same parking spot i left it, so i asked customer service for another update. they looked at eachother like they didnt know anything about it. then they asked and found the paper work and noticed it said it should be done by 3:00 pm and then they went into the garage to find out what was going on. when the customer service rep. came back he told me he was sorry but they havent brought my car in yet and he didnt know why.

now its 5:45 pm and i notice that they are finally driving my car into the shop. i call my work and tell them that i should still be able to relive the engineer covering for me at my job tonight. i sit in the waiting area until 8:35 pm and notice no one has been around my car for over 2 hours now so i get up and ask customer service if my car is finished. im asked if im the owner of the intrepid? and i answer yes, [as if they dont remember me by now. i have been here for 12 hours],they tell me there is a problem because they have to remove some parts to get to my alternator and wont be able to finish it tonight. i asked why they couldnt tell me this 3 hours ago when the mechcanic drove my car in and looked at it and as i sat in the waiting room and i was told another i dont know. they even had a contact number they could have called. so after sitting for twelve hours i called my work to report i would miss the entire work day and then walked home.

june 2nd 1:00 pm, i finally have my car back.this has got to be the worst service i have ever experienced , i dont think i will ever frequent another pep boys ever. 28 hours to put in an alternator after i was told it would take two hours.

update on this problem

AUTHOR: Creolwex - philadelphia (U.S.A.)

so the next day my car breaks down again on my way to work. i get out pop the hood and notice the battery terminals hitting against the metal battery hold down. so i take it back to then and tell them they didnt install it right. they fix the battery hold down and put a cover over the battery terminal. the day after this my car shuts off again. im currently looking for another place to take my car for repairs. i wont be going to pep boys ever again. they didnt fix my car and the things they did do , like installing a new battery , they couldnt even do right.

Typical Complaint, But You Would Think...

AUTHOR: Jomo99 - Merced (U.S.A.)

You know, you would think that for a company that is headquartered in Philadelphia, PA., they would pay the closest attention to the stores in that city. If a location in their base city screws up this bad, what does that say about the REST of the company and their stores!?

As a former employee, all I can tell you is that beyond oil and filter changes, I wouldn't trust my primary vehicle to PBY even if you PAID ME to go to them! Between the shady business practices, the inexperienced shop people, and the massive amount of consumer complaints, I'm steerin' clear!
