Dear fellow cosnumers and citizens,
I went there for a general inspection for a Nissan altima 97 which i wanted to buy from a guy on craigslist. I gave the car at pepboys for 45$ general checking and asked him If it would pass an state inspection. After half an hour pepboys told me that i have to spend about 400$ to repair the brakes and tires and then it will pass an inspection. I desperately wanted a car so i agreed and made a deal with a owner/ paid him the car price and left the car at the pepboys location for a repirs and inspection. The car was in good driving condition except a little noise from tires. On monday pepboys called me and told me that i have to spend another 300$ for engine/horn/light etc to pass the inspection. I told them that i dont have that much money and as everything is in working condition, please dont work on the car and give me the car back. Suddenly they realized that i am getting off the hook and told me that the 400$ worth work is already done and its just the matter of few things... I dodnt have a choice and i agreed. Finally when i went there they billed me for 870$. Later i found out that they did not do any work that they were claiming. The car was left exactly at the same condition it was before. They just did not do anything other than putting a inspection sticker. I showed it to 2 other mechanics later and both reliable mechanics confirmed that the car was not worked for any new brake liners or tire rotation etc etc. I was so depressed that i did not even feel like fighting and lodging a police complaint. The guys there at pepboys and a girl was so rude and so young and inexperienced that you can tell that by just a first glance. I confirmed from few other people later that i had got totally ripped off and they just took a disadvange of me being a new guy in the town, not very street smart and a poor soul.I did not wanted to even think of this incident for lot of days.
I went to this pepboys repair store on broad street, richmond, VA. I was very much new in the city and did not know anybody in the city at that time. I am writting this report only becasue i do not want other poor people to get ripped off by these thugs. Please avoid pepboys in any case. They are open on Sundays just to rip you off.
