PEPBOYS had my car for 3 weeks replacing a gas tank. My car is a 1986 Trans AM. I requested that the car be pushed in the garage every night as it is a car that the parts are wanted by car thieves. Supposedly between December 27 and December 28 my car was stolen from the grounds of PEPBOYS. PEPBOYS did not notify me until Tuesday, December 30. PEPBOYS did not call my house phone they called my cell phone which I do not keep on all the time. At this point I knew the car was not being pushed in every night. The manager of the garage told me that he did not have enough help that night and that is why the car was not pushed into the garage.

Not their fault.

It is actually against store policy to store vehicles in the shop overnight unless the service is going to be finished next day and the car cannot be moved. If the manager told you they would store it, however, then that is an issue you should call 1-800-PEPBOYS about. If they make a promise, they should certainly stand by it. Legally, as far as I know, Pepboys is not responsible for vehicles being stolen off their lots unless there is negligence involved (something like leaving the keys in the ignition). Ultimately, if you cannot get remedy from corporate, then your next step is to take this to court, which may or may not be worth your time.
