Took my vehicle in for a noise problem and was called back about 6 hrs later after placing 3-4 calls to see if they had looked at it.
Was advised that the noise was coming from the A/C compressor and the cost to repair it would be 1,100.
The cost of the compressor is under 300.00 at any local auto parts store and most places I called would install it for around 300.00. I called the dealer back and asked what he would chg for the labor and was told it would be 366.00. so they were charging me over 700.00 for the part.
The other prob was they charged me 89.00 as a Diagnostic fee for just doing a test drive and using a stethescope. this I find unresonable

Now that they have diagnosed the problem (you obviously were unable to), buy the part and install it yourself.
You don't know what they pay for the part or what brand do you? Markup is part of their income.
Next time do the calling around before you take it in, not after.

Auto parts stores frequently sell inferior quality products. The cheaper compressor may not be of the same quality you would have received from the dealer.
Were you advised of the diagnostic fee when you left your vehicle for service?

I received a call from Mike Moore General Mgr for Stampede Dodge and we discussed the problem I had concerning the 89.00 fee I was charged.
The dealer refunded my money and apologized for any problems I had.
I feel that the company resolved the problem and I would go back and ask more questions before I leave the dealer
