Mid July of 06 I took my car into the Sears Auto shop in Greensburg, PA to have the air conditioner fixed. It was blowing warm air. They serviced it, recharged it, and charging me $132.49.

It performed better, but not as good as I thought it should have. I assumed being that the car was getting up there in miles that this might be the best I could expect. However, it wasn't long until it was blowing warm air again.

Being that I travel a lot, I put up with it until the next time I was in Greensburg. They agreed to look over it and found nothing wrong. The charge was full and there were no leaks from the dye they put in on the last visit. Their was no charge for this.

So the question was why is it blowing warm air? They did not have an answer and suggested that I take it to an air-condition specialist. Two days later I took it to Pep Boys and explained the situation.

They serviced it and found that the pressure was low, charging me only $29.99. I drove away with the air blowing on me cooler than I can ever remember. It was like a brand new conditioner.

I fully expected there to be a leak, that my luck would soon fade and I would be back to warm air. However, after a few weeks of very cold air I began to wonder if sears had done anything at all.

I took both bills back to Greensburg Sears Auto Center to share my experience. My question was what did I pay for? The man behind the counter explained that the technician might have read the manual wrong, leaving the wrong pressure.

He contacted his manager and I re-explained everything. They contacted another gentlemen and I re-explained everything. They decided that they would credit me with the amount I paid Pep Boys, $29.99.

I guess they do not warrantee their work, even when they admit that their technicians probably made an error. If you use their service do not expect your money back when they are at fault.

I told them that they could keep their lousy 29 bucks and that I would not be using their services again. I walked out mumbling something about writing a sentence or two about this online.

If you use their services you might have to suffer through confused management, inadequate work, and a very warm August.
