*Consumer Comment: Walmart Fuel Injector Service

I just had my car--a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer- serviced at Walmart for the fist and last time. Mind you, I had just had a complete service of the car done 2 weeks ago at my regular mechanic's place. Timing belt, etc. I'm going on a trip to Michigan tomorrow and Walmart was the only place open to get an oil change. They talked me into the injector cleaner thing. I thought, "oh what the hell, couldn't hurt" WRONG! The check engine light is now on and the car stalls. One guy at the store told me it goes away after 30-50 starts.
The manager told me to "just let it idle a while". I let it idle a while. No change. Took it out on the Interstate and ran it up to 100 MPH trying to blow out the junk. No change. I am furious with myself for being so stupid to take my car to Walmart and THEN let them talk me into an unneeded service that has &(*&*&)(& up my car. I plan to raise hell until the the car is fixed properly and all the problems are taken care of at Walmart's expense. I hate even going to that stupid place. I enjoy looking at the "People of Walmart" web site and seeing all the stupidity. I deserve a place on the web site, too, for being such a chump.

If you just had a "complete service of the car done 2 weeks ago", why are you having anything done to your car, let alone an oil change at Wal-Mart? Did you drive about 3000 miles in that 2 week period that you felt you needed another service?
And NO I don't work for Wal-Mart. I just find it very odd that you say you had a complete service and then 2 weeks later take it in for an oil change.

Well first off, the wal-mart fuel system service is the exact same service tires plus and ntb do, knowing from experience. It is a gum out product, possibly Valvoline as that is what will be rolled out country wide soon. check engine light and stalling is probably due to them improperly hooking up the applicator to the vacuum line causing a vacuum leak which will cause both of these symptoms. Only different between wal-mart and those other companies is, if they tore something, they could actually replace it. Wal-mart will not have those spare parts. It's a hard service to screw up and is really a rip off to the customer because at $20 a pop, its the same thing you could have done yourself with an $8 bottle of sea foam and the ability to use a pliers if you have a clip holding your break booster vacuum line on.

I used Walmart Auto Service in Greeneville, TN to have my daughter's 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier fuel injectors cleaned. This was done the first week in April 2012. There was an improvement in idle and overall engine performance. (Neither I or my daughter are employed by Walmart.)
