I noticed air was leaking from my tire on the way home from work. I stopped at Walmart explaining the situation. Walmart admitted to the tire being faulty and proceeded to provide a new one at no charge. (Good customer service, due to a possible liabilty on their behalf).

Oh, I almost forgot, before I went to pick up a few items I asked to have my oil changed figuring it would only take a extra few minutes.

By the way all this only took 3.5 hours, hey give them a break, no other cars were being serviced.

I returned, auto Staff were huddled having local chit chat on the middle of the service floor.
The man who was fixing my tire, he had no clue, that my tire was there to be fixed. I had to remind the floor manager, I was waiting.

Results, On 7/3/06 I had Wal-mart do the work,8/31/06, Yes, My car started a tic noise on the highway, by the time I was able to pull over to the shoulder my engine was banging. I called someone for a ride back home to think about this, then called Walmart. I discussed the senario with a auto supervisor who stated someone would meet me by the car in two hours.

By the way I am sitting on a desert highway, it was extremely hot. The man came, looked for oil leaks over and under the car, he stated no oil was seen, he then added three quarts of oil. Then he explained he would write up a work order for the repairs feeling Walmart was well at fault. Well, the man (Walmart supervisor) said, have the car towed to the mechanic of your choice to have the work done.

I explained not having a regular mecanic but knew of a dealer in Yucca Valley. Ok, now it was agreed the car would be towed there, my expense. By the way the man from Wal-mart stated to go rent a car it would be reimbursed afterwards by the Wal-mart insurance in addition to the repair work.

Sure enough, I recieve a call from a Walmart claims person, explaining no work would be authorized until he came to look over the car and take pictures. My comment, no problem. The next phone call from this man was to be told he could not permit the insurance to fix the car due to the miles I drive oil changes. (Please tell me the revelency of this?) I drive approximately 190 miles a day to work and back. That car was my only one, I rely on that car like I breath.

I have taken my car to Walmart over a year, there has not been any problems in the past. I feel I keep up on maintence with my car very good. Yes, I was royaly screwed to the point of no return. Ask me if I ever step foot in Walmart again? Yes, I want to tell the world about this, matter of fact I Am. Don't be a Sucker to their auto service centers. You get burned.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Dates don't add up.....

AUTHOR: Hugh - Paducah (U.S.A.)

The work was done the first of July, the problem started the end of August? Nearly two months? You admit you drive 190 miles a day.

Assuming 40 work days in the two months, that's over 7000 miles since your oil change. Did you not check your oil in the past 2 months? Three quarts of oil in 7000 miles is pretty much normal oil consumption for many cars - that's why he found no leaks.

Your car consumed the oil, you apparently never checked it and you smoked your engine. Claim what you will, but there's only one person to blame here and it's NOT Wal-Mart.
