Prompto Oil Preformed a faulty oil change on my vehicle and caused it to damage the engine Augusta Maine

I brought my 1999 Pontiac Montana mini van in to the Prompto quick oil change location in Augusta ME. Everything was fine with the oil change untill 1500 miles later. The vans battery had died on Thursday because one of my kids left a light on. I called AAA for a boost on Saturday morning. The driver hooked up his booster and turned the engine over. The engine started and started making a loud rapping sound. Just then my girlfriend saw a large puddle of oil spilling out from under the van. The driver turned off the engine.

I had the van towed to my local mechanic to determine the problem. After his inspection he told me that the oil filter had two gaskets on it. Meaning that the last time we had the oil changed the oil filter gasket was left on the engine and the new filter and gasket were installed over it.

The morning I called AAA was cold and the oil was sitting for 3 days and was thick. So once the engine started, it built up oil pressure to move the oil. It found the weekest point....the double gasket.

I then contacted the Prompto location and reported the claim. The owner of the location called me back and accused me of reporting a false claim. I have since contacted a lawyer and am waiting for Prompto to pay to fix the van.
