I just go on the 680 freeway southbound in Pleasanton where I live and ended up behind a truck from Reliable Trucking/Conco Cement. Suddenly a rock hit my windshield and put a crack in it. I immediately took down the license plate and reported the claim to the company. They had me fill out some paperwork and fax it in. They did not want to discuss the circumstances with me but told me to document it in the report. I did so and sent it to their insurance company.

I just got a letter back from their insurance company, from a claims examiner at Jenkins/Athens aka Diversified Claims Insurance Services. They are basically saying that they are not responsible citing that their truck was empty at the time.

I don't understand this! How can they be sure that every single rock was gone from their truck? I was thier with my daughter in the car! They are basically telling me that it's just my tough luck that it happened, but it's not their fault!

To me this is a big ripoff and I feel very taken advantage of. These guys are not taking responibility for the safety of others while their truck are on the road.

TIP... NEVER EVER follow behind a truck that carries anything!!!

You're an idiot

AUTHOR: Mattb - Lakeside (U.S.A.)

I used to live in the East Bay and used to work for Reliable Trucking. You are probably a typical car driver that follows way too close to trucks (tailgating). Did you actually see the rock come flying off the truck? You should have filed your claim with Caltrans, since the rock most likely was already on the ground and was kicked up by the trucks tire. In any case, if you weren't such and idiot and following the truck too close, it would have never happened.....

Name calling

AUTHOR: Al - Danville (U.S.A.)

Amazing that the writers calls the original poster an idiot because he thiniks he was following too close. I would like to know what crystal ball you saw the accident in? Are you willing to testify that the driver was following too close. Just because you worked for this company doesn't qualify to say what happened.

You just opened your mouth and stuck your foot in!

The foot is in your mouth!

AUTHOR: Mattb - Lakeside (U.S.A.)

How do I know?  I drove the 580/680 corridor 5 and sometimes 6 days a week 10-12 hours a day and know how people drive those highways.  Bay Area drivers are without a doubt some of the worst in the nation, and I have driven throughout the lower 48 states in the past 15 years.  So, go ahead and have a big plate of crow.... or better yet, eat the BS that spews from your keyboard.
