Tires Plus Franchisee Huge markup on parts Champaign Illinois

I recently took my car in for an oil change and the store found that the inner tie rod ends were loose, which is not an uncommon issue for my car and this mileage. They gave me a quote stating $71.28 for each inner tie rod. I thought that was crazy talk and went online and found the same part number from The Auto Parts Nerd for $18.56. I received free shipping on my order as well.
I called the shop back before ordering the parts and asked about the price of the parts and was told that price was not high and that they won't install parts unless you buy them from them. Their policy is fine, it's theirs, even if I don't agree with it since it is the same part number they were going to install and not a knock-off part, but their 380% markup over a retail website is ridiculous since they probably pay even less than I did.
Anytime you get a parts quote from them, check it online as they might be ripping you off.

Online sites do not even have a product on hand in most cases. They have the item drop-shipped from another location.
Parts markup is normal business practice, and every business does it. The steak you ate at a restaraunt did not cost them $20. You could buy it at a grocer yourself and save about $17.
