I arrived at a friends apartment at 650 pm, got my kids out of my car and went inside for about 45 minutes. I came out and my car was gone. I called the apartment complex business office (The Lancaster, 5200 east lancaster) who said that they had not had any cars towed today. I asked, are you sure, because this means my car was stolen. She was less than interested.

I call 911 to report stolen at 8pm when I discovered my car missing. They said to let them check and see if it had been towed. They asked if i had parked in handicap, over lines, etc, no to all. They came back on the line and said there were no reports of a tow, so my car must be stolen. I waited nearly an hour for the police to arrive. when he did he said "i may have good news for you; another officer mentioned seeing a car fitting your description being towed down lancaster ave." i told him i had been parked legally, etc. he said sometimes cars get towed illegally, and what are the odds of two cars in the same area, one stolen and one towed? so i call the impound yard and sure enough my car was there. when i asked why they had towed it i was told "you cant just par your car where ever you want to. you need a permit." i said I arrived at 650 pm, how could i get one? she promptly told me it was my problem. i picked my car up at 10 pm.

i got the paperwork, it said they arrived at the yard at 710pm. this yard is more than 20 minutes away, so not only did they drag my car off as soon as i shut the door, they broke the speed limit getting the car to the yard. they had my car for 3 hours, and charged me 300 to get it out.
