Martine's Service Center Overcharging out of state drivers for towing and storage Middletown, New York

Do not allow your car to be towed to this place, particularly if you are from out of state.  My niece hit a deer while on her way back to college and the state police had the car towed to this station.   My sister was charged over $600 for a 9 mile tow and $55 per day for storage, which was extremely excessive.  When we made the 2-1/2 hour trip to pick the car up and questioned the charges and fees, the owner because extremely hostile and insisted we pay in cash even though he had said over the phone we could use a credit card (I guess he knew he was overcharging and didn't want us to dispute the charges which we intend to do).  We had to get the state police involved to get the car released and allow us to pay with a credit card.   We will be filing a complaint with the Consumer Protection Board in NY and also urging the state police to take these people off their list of reputable towing companies.
