I had left my car running in a loading zone to get my son and when I walked out my car was gone.

I had left it running with the keys inside, hazards on, and all my belongings inside of it. I was getting my son who had been sent home early for an ear infection.

I was not only towed but they charged me for storage of one day and it was there 10mins as well as the towing charges. I dont think they had the right to tow it and have no compassion.

Sunnyvale Tow pads charges, rips off people

AUTHOR: Anonymous - New York (U.S.A.)

While I was out of town my landlord decided to pave the parking lot and gave a 1 day notice. Sunnyvale Tow towed my car. It was taken on Thursday, and I got it back on Tuesday. In addition to the $165 towing fee they charged a $70 "lien fee" and a $40 "dolly fee" plus $50/"day" storage. Total $575. I called to ask about it. They said that they are required by law to charge the lien fee, which is not correct. Nobody is required by law to charge anything. They said they have to place a lien within 15 days, but it had only been 5 days (and again nobody is requiring that lien-- what they really mean is "if we want to take your car we CAN file a lien." I asked them who is requiring them to charge the lien fee. They told me it was the City of Sunnyvale, which I didn't believe. I asked which state agency licenses them. They said "I don't know." I asked them to look on the office wall to see the certificate and read who issued it. They said they weren't in the office. I said "Is it the Bureau of Automotive Repair?" They didn't know.

Do not use them. If you are a landlord you will make your tenants very angry with you, and they should not be used in any case.
