Sirs, simply; Brownies improverly installed a clutch kit and slave cylinder in my 1990 Ford Ranger, and was told all work was done properly, and further refused to physically inspect the work done for proper installation. I told Brownies work wasn't properly done on three separate occassions, and was told by Brownies Kettering manager Ben, nothing was wrong. Later owner Bob Lowry said the same thing in letters.

Work was originally done in March of 1998, and later a chattering clutch was fixed by Brownies in 1999. Original problem was never fixed.

October 2001 forced to have a second clutch kit and slave cylinder installed by another shop, due to a leaky slave cylinder. Brownies work lated 43,000 miles only. Original equipment lasted 116,000 miles. Clutch pedal feel by Brownies was mushy, and hard to determine throw-out rate. Poorer performance of vehicle.

Upon installaton of second clutch kit and slave cylinder, shorter throw of clutch pedal returned, and better performance of vehicle. Mushy feel gone. A crisp feel returned. Far less work to clutch ad shift gears. A much nicer vehicle to drive, plus better gas mileage.

REBUTTAL TO A BOGUS RIPOFF REPORT

RIPOFF REPORT

RE: Leonard Cummings

Gentlemen this is truly a BOGUS report. Tuffy Auto Center, who is a competitor of ours, wrote us a letter regarding the work requested by Mr.Cummings on his 1990 Ford Ranger. The owner of Tuffy Auto Center, Mr. Cody Sanford, stated the following:

Upon removal of the transmission, we saw no nuts or bolts missing or loose and everything appeared to be proper. We did not tell him he needed a clutch, he just wanted it replaced. Upon removal of the clutch cover and disc we could see that the clutch showed a little normal wear and the flywheel still showed non-directional grinding marks from when it had been previously resurfaced. It was almost surprising that the clutch had not worn away more of the grinding marks from normal use. There were no signs of abuse or neglect. Actually, the vehicle is probably driven rather easily.”

He drove his truck into their shop on the work we performed 3-1/2 years earlier.

His work had a 90 day warranty which expired 6/7/98! This was 3-1/2 years later and still Tuffy Muffler found the clutch to be operating fine and they reported in their letter that “the vehicle drove rather easily”. This is a BOGUS complaint from a guy that demanded his money back three and a half years after a 90 day guarantee expired! Plus per a competitor of ours (Tuffy Auto Service Center) said everything was working properly 3-1/2 years later!
