After a previous rental, we chose to rent again from company. This time we were charged 65.00 est  for a late charge, we were only a couple hours late near close of business for the day. I explained to mgr that we intended to rent 3 more weekends due to my sons travels, and it would make sense to forgo the charge for the sake of customer relations. He stood to make 500.00 dollars from next 3 weekends. He refused and became a jerk. I told him that I wanted to speak with the owner of that particular franchise, he said he was it. later found out he is not. To date I have kept 3000 plus worth of business from his store.

Enterprise

Enterprise DOES NOT have franchises.  Each location is company owned.  The jerk-of-a-manager with whom you spoke is NOT the top of the ladder.  Call the 800 number and voice your complaint.  Let them know in no uncertain terms how you were treated, and how much money they lost because of it.  Believe me, Enterprise is money-hungry and will try their best to get your business back.  But, aside from that, they will still try to screw you out of every penny they can....watch out for the "damages" found on your car when you return it.  Enterprise is famous for charging multiple customers for the SAME scratch or dent on a car.

I see this all the time at car rental counters all over the world. The rental car companies all have the same rules and the same get your money up front attitude. I read my rental agreement once and being 1 minute late is technicly theft and they can report and charge you with theft. So you didn't call and warn them you would be late and when the rules were applied to you its unfair. Guess what, most people think you should have realised that the car had to be back at a certain time and either told the rental company it would be late or just paid the late charge because wineing about it just makes you look foolish.

   How dare they charge you a late fee just for being late!  Don't they know how special you are?   You even informed them that you would probably be renting from them in the future (yeah, right.) and they still charged you?  Obviously, they had no idea that you were above all of those silly rules and regulations.  What an evil company!

   BTW - Last time I rented a car, I couldn't get the car I reserved because some moron didn't return it when they were supposed to.
