On October 1, 2009 we rented a car from this organization through an online rental site. We were to obtain the economy car on 10/10 and return on 10/17 for a total charge $198.94. We arrived at the airport pick-up site at approximately 1:15 PM to receive a ride from Global to the rental site with other individuals who had also rented vehicles. One family had an infant and another small child. We all called Global and were advised the van was on the way.

The van never showed and repeated calls were made to the rental facility, receiving the same answer. This went on for well over an hour as all stood in the 90 degree sun. Eventually, the Global representative stopped answering the phone and the calls were sent to the Miami corporate office where they colluded and provided the same misleading answers. We eventually, after close to 90 minutes, ended up having to rent an economy auto for over $400 with no prior reservation in place with any other vendor.

I have reached out to Global and requested they pay the difference in cost. They refused and wanted me to take the car back to agency we went though, pay them over $150, lose a half day of vacation, and come to their facility for a car. In emails with their COO, a Carlos, the gentleman accidentally clicked reply all when sending an email to the owner and I received it. The email read as follows:

Please read this and Let me know how you want me to answer this a**hole. He

thinks he is going to scare us.

Regards,

The company actually advised us through email that this practice happens from time to time and is out of their control. This is something for all consumers to consider before renting a vehicle from this organization. We saw multiple members of the competition pick up customers over and over as we stood there waiting and being lied to.  It surprises me that the state of Florida allows this type of business activity to take place. We have filed a complaint through the State Attorney General's Office.  It certainly will lead consumers to take their business elsewhere. We are also filing complaints though the Miami and Fort Lauderdale BBB’s and Chamber of Commerce.

Please consider yourself warned and stay away from this organization - there are many others to choose from in the area.

Global has Corrected the Situation

AUTHOR: Michael - Noblesville (USA)

I am happy to report that Global has sent me a check for the rental difference and offered a discount should I decide to use the company again.
