I purchased a 2005 Porsche Cayenne from a used car dealer who specialized in high end cars.  The car had 53k miles on it, so i was offered an extended warranty which i typically don't do, but since the car had so many things on it that could go wrong and everything was so expensive to repair, i decided to buy it.  I chose the "Gold Plus" plan, which is the second from the best plan offered (out of 5 or 6 plans) and was supposed to cover virtually EVERYTHING.  I spent $4300 for 48k miles of coverage and a $50 deductable.

I had a small coolent leak recently and took the car into the Porsche dealer to top off the coolent and like a fool got talked into having them look at it for a leak, even though it was VERY small.  I figured if there was a problem I had an extended warranty which would cover it and only cost me the $50 deductable.  They had to take some manifold thing off that cost $475 just to remove and they found that the "coolent crossover tubes" were leaking and needed to be replaced.  When they called for authorization, Fidelity Warranty Services told them that they weren't covered by the warranty.  I ended up calling Fidelity to speak to someone who told me the coolent crossover tubes weren't listed as a covered item on the warranty.  I asked if they listed every part on the car soemwhere in there plans to which i of course did not recieve a satisfactory answer.

I am appalled that a coolent leak is not covered by an extended warranty plan that cost $4300 and was supposed to cover virtually everything.  They list several items on their web site except the ones that fail in between the large items like the radiator of course.

When i brought the car in i was warned by the service advisor that these companies are very hard to deal with and often will NOT over items they should.

Beware of Fidelity Warranty Services.  It's just a rip off because they find a reason not to cover what actually breaks...
