They are like the IRS. No one is above them to make sure they pay out the valid claims. My truck overheated and is in parts at the dealership...I am now responsible for over $800.00 in charges for the teardown Fidelity wanted...just the hear them say "OVERHEAT" and your warranty is worthless. Overheat...can you get any more VAGUE than this?
Yes the truck overheated, but not due to negligence on my part. Most like because the impeller on the water pump intermittently stopped flowing water, while I was driving causing it to overheat. The heads are warped, BUT I bought the truck with 54,000 miles on it and paid $2000.00± of the Extended Warranty to take it to 100,000 miles.
I could have purchased the truck with heads already warped, and the engine had underlying, hidden problems prior to me owning it, that I was not aware of.
So what came first...the chicken or the egg?
All I know is that my "Peace of Mind"...cost me a whole lot more than $2000.00 and this company is selling a contract that is costly and worthless. No wonder Jim Moran has his own private jets. I am sure I paid for at least 1 party on his plane.
Meanwhile I contacted the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation at: http://www.floir.com and called them at (850) 413-3140 to file a complaint. The gave me a claim number and told me Fidelity would have it emailed by the end of the day, today. Bravo for this state entity, that was fast service. I hope if you have been RIPPED OFF...that you will take the time to do this too.
I will NEVER purchase another warranty ever again. I will now do my own engine repair, thank you very much. (BTW, a "new" set of heads cost $3200...these are aluminum and I can have them machined back to spec for...$50.00 each...WOW.)
Good luck to all you people who have purchased your warranties that will get caught between a rock and a hard place because this company, and others like it.
