We reported an electrical problem when the horn continued to engage, on it's own. We were told that it was the wiring inside steering column and under the dash.

Also, at this time, any warning lights, beeps, or other signals ceased to work; thereby eliminating any chance of us knowing of any breakdowns or other problems.

Approximately two weeks later the engine seized in our 1999 Isuzu Rodeo. With no types of warning; whatsoever!

First Extended Service Corproation made us wait 24 days before saying they would not pay for repair, to our engine, because they required more receipts for oil changes and such.

We are a poor family. We do not have extra money to pay for oil changes, shocks, muffler; whatever else would be classified as normal wear and tear. So, I do all of my own work (right in my driveway). How can I supply receipts when I do the necessary work myself?

This is only one (the worst) of 3 or 4 items turned down.

#1 Consumer Comment

you did not preform the required maintenance

AUTHOR: Steve - Tampa (U.S.A.)

The service contract company or the repairing facility is within their rights to request LOF receipts. If you purchased your own oil/filter you should have receipt and a log of when you preformed the LOF change. A guess is that you did not preform the required maintenance that is the reason the engine seized.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Retain a copy of your oil and filter purchases

AUTHOR: Kevin - Nashville (U.S.A.)

You state you do your own maintence so how can you have receipts? It's easy (I've been doing my own maintenace for years). Retain a copy of your oil and filter purchases from the auto store. Simply circle the date and write the mileage down when the service was completed. This is now a valid document showing service was performed. You cannot expect an extended service contract, or factory warranty for that matter, to honor their contact without proof of maintenance.
