I have a power train warranty through first extended service corp. My transmission went out on my dodge grand caravan, which is covered by the power train warranty. I took my van in to a dodge dealership to have repaired.

They had to have someone from the warranty company come out and make sure that it went out because of mechanical reasons, and not human caused. The warranty person noted that it did go out because of mechanical reasons, but are now saying they will only pay for half of the cost for the transmission to be replaced.

They are saying this because the mechanic will not put in a used transmission; the mechanic has integrity. My contract says nothing about first extended service corp. setting a price limit on the part that needs replaced. I have always believed power train warranties to be a waste of money, and now that the company I have one through is trying to Welch on the contract, I think they are even a bigger waste of money.

The only reason I got the power train warranty was because the dealership I bought it from said I could not get financing without it; I know now that that it a lie. I have contacted consumer affairs and hope to hear from them soon. I have also put in a complaint with the better business bureau. I hope these companies will be able to help me.

Unfortunately I live 50 miles from the nearest anything and need my van. If I do end up paying half the bill I plan on suing first extended service corp., for not honoring their contract. What they are doing cannot be legal, and I am searching every tort case on extended warranties that I can to assist me if I do have to go to court.

I wish that I had known about this website before I bought my van; if I had I would never had accepted first extended service corp., as my warranty company. I cannot believe how many complaints they have against them; or maybe I can.
