Our GMC 2000 Yukon required replacement of a worn pitman arm & idler arm before a front end alignment could take place. We took the vehicle to a very reputabel repair shop that specializes in Front end repair & alignment. The service shop put in numerous calls on a 800 claims number for claim authorization.
They were put on hold numerous times or nobody ever picked up. Finally after spending over 1.5 hours on the phone, they gave all of the information requested on the Moog parts to be replaced (MOG-K6536 & K6534 along with the unit price, 8% sales tax, number of labor hours to complete the repair (2.7) & labor rate ($70/hr). The claims representative would not accept the prices quoted, labor hours required or labor shop rate as they were told all were too high.
I told the repair shop to repair it anyways & I would file a claim for re-imbursement after the fact. When I tried to do that, I called the claim number who then refered me to Ultimate Customer Service. That CSR told me that the claim was refused and would not make any payments to anyone, the service repair shop, or the warranty policy holder!
I called the 1-800-607-9342 VSC Customer Care Department & spoke to a Malissa who told me that this Ultimate care company assets were taken over by the Department of South Carolina Insurance Dept?
I finally ended up talking to Donald (manager) who said to fax in a cover letter, explanation of what transpired, copy of the warranty ID card, repair shop invoice, etc, ATTN Manager of Claims & they would review & make re-imbursements. Guess Time will tell?
