I was contacted by a rep of Cambridge Who's Who via the telephone (cell) in my car. I was on my way to an appointment, so I was in a hurry. The rep was nice enough and explained the program to me. I wasn't really interested but she did state I would get a media release if I joined. I was interested in the media release as I just joined a new company and was looking for market exposure. Plus the networking that she explained came with the membership.
She quoted me the price of $598.95 to get the platinum membership plus a defered $199.00 I'm not dumb, but in hind sight by joining I guess I was. I said wait $598.95 plus $199.00 means I am paying $797.95. I said no thanks. Then she said she would waive the $199.00. I said I would think about it and get back to her. She said no the waiver was only good as long as I was on the phone. So, looking for the media exposure and networking I signed on on the basis of the release and the waiver of the $199.00.
The media release was in a paper in Port Orange, FLA. I am in North Conway NH some 1800 miles away. What good is that to me. Plus I went into the network and trust me you can get more benefit out of ClassMates.com, Facebook or hanging out on a corner.
Come to find out that CWW charged my credit card he $119.00. I protested to my Visa Card issuer (BOA). BOA investigated the charge, deleted it, installed it, deleted it, installed it. CWW had smug answers to my protest. CWW keeps claiming to BOA that they have tapes of my conversation. I refer to anyone the case WebXites.com. So my response tothe CWW tapes is let the court review them.
"Oh, someone downloaded the release from the internet and put it in the Port Orange paper." Yeah, right. I refused to pay the $199.00. I have demanded a refund in full. This issue has been on going since September 2009.
I have filed a complaint with the Attorney General State Of NH. I intend to litigate and expose this company for what it is.
Anyone else burned by CWW interested in investigating a class action?
