I purchased two home owner policies October 7, 2008, from Farmers Ins. agent Debbie Bergschicker which was to include earthquake insurance on each policy. I didn't receive a policy for over a month and while in the process of moving I did not read the policy for a few days only to discover there was no coverage for earthquake insurance, I called the Farmers agent and she said I didn't ask for earthquake insurance and quoted me an additional annual premium of $1,400.00 on one home and $800.00 on the other, I told her that I did request the earthquake insurance and that I was going to cancel both policies which I did on December 4, 2008. I was charged $2,501.00 for both policies on October 7, 2008, and their charge for less then two months was $719.06 of which $302.32 was cancellation fee's.
I have turned the matter over to the States Attorney General, the Insurance and Banking Commission, consumer affairs, the FTC and my attorney.
