People PC Earthlink Subscription - Cancelation Service non existent..... Atlanta, Georgia

In late May, early June purchased People PC for 5 months getting special discounted service for about $35 using a disposable gift card.  Spent the remainder of the gift card balance.  When speaking with the young man who got us set up, it was reitterated that we only wanted the 5 months special .... no more no less.... He agreed we would have service until about the end of October... perfect.... then the service would run out...
Yesterday, a call was received from NCO financial that a bill of $34.53 was owed PeoplePC and they were there to collect...  No amount of arguing would accomplish anything....we had to talk to People PC...... Called People PC  800-736-7537 and first spoke to Janesway with a heavy Indian accent..... We verified the account info... she was very polite and listened to the story.... She then asked for a cancellation number.... Explained we only signed and prepaid for the special.... no other service was ordered..... After lots of heated moments I asked for a manager that could make this all go away.... She gave me Richard ( with no accent)..... Richard said the only way to make this go away was a cancellation number..... He explained that policy was to continue for 2 months or until the charges equaled about $25 and then turn it over to NCO finanical collections....their company who charges an additional $10 to collect and their contractors PICK you off the internet to bug....
This is a racket!!!!! scan!!!!! almost Hazing like way to conduct business..... Shame on you Earthlink!!!  People only use dialup because of cost and no other choice... Services are horrible..
