Before opening a checking account with BofA, you should be very aware that they are out to get your money and they have very bad customer service and don't care anything about their customers as they depend on their popularity and size, one less customer will not hurt their bottom line. I strongly urge you to look for another bank that is more customer service friendly than BofA can ever hope to be.
Here is my story: On Mon 1/25/2010, there was a check withdrawn from my account bringing my total to $102.10, on Fri. & Sat. I made 4 different charges at different places: -$40.20 on 1/23, -$40 on 1/22, -$20.66 on 1/23, -$6.51 on 1/23 yet these don't hit my account according to the dates charged, they deducted a larger amount of $270 electronic payment on the scheduled on the 25th first, making my balance negative so instead of bouncing once for $35 charge, it was made to bounce 5 times! Does that make sense to anyone out there, you would think the bank would debit your account according to the dates the charges come in; on a first come - first paid basis; but NO! It is a BofA policy that the highest amount gets paid first as it is the more "important" bill..this is a bologne as if the highest amount gets paid first customers are more likely be in the negative, so they can charge the $35 overdraft fee not only once but multiple times for the smaller charges that come in on a prior basis. I called Customer Service to complain but they explained this irrational policy set by BofA, stating that it's been in effect for 9-10 years now. I have been a loyal customer of BofA since 2003 and since they are not willing to credit me for $35, I am looking for a more customer service friendly bank. I STRONGLY URGE ANYONE OUT THERE NOT TO USE BOFA AS YOUR BANK! I HAVE NOTHING BUT NEGATIVE THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THEM TO EVERYONE I KNOW. I AM ONE STRONGLY UNSATISFIED CUSTOMER! I WELCOME ANY LAWYER LOOKING FOR A STRONG CASE OF GROUP LAWSUIT OF WRONGFULLY CHARGED CUSTOMERS IN OVERDRAFT FEE. MY BEST FRIEND HAVE SIMILAR NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE WITH BOFA AS WELL.
