I moved my checking account to this bank and always made sure there was a sufficient balance. Right? Nope? Everything began bouncing and creating a lot of overdraft charges or nf fees. Ive found myself having no money for bills because the bank takes it to cover the charges.

Im on a fixed income and this month I found I had 300.00 to live on, the rest is gone for charges. Going to the bank didnt help. And my husband thinks Im stupid. Im not at all stupid. I know what is in the bank befiore I write a check.

How can a check for $1.97 bounce three times @ $35.00 each time when there was more then enough money in there to cover that little bit of a check? My husband needs to read all these complaints like mine and get a brain adjustment.

Can't something be done to stop this insanity? People today need every penny to pay bills and are pretty careful with their money. Mistakes can be made but this is outrageous. The more that gets put in, the more that goes to the bank for their charges, and my credit has been ruined by them. The trouble is that there is another bank that is doing the same thing here and there are complaints about them too. What is going on????

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Rosalie, actually your husband is correct

AUTHOR: Steve - Bradenton (U.S.A.)

Rosalie,

First let me tell you that I have been with bank of America for over 16 years in multiple states with multiple accounts, and I have NEVER paid 1 NSF charge. Why is that?

It is because I keep an ACCURATE checkbook register and spend ONLY the money that is POSTED and AVAILABLE in my account.

It is obvious that you do not keep an ACCURATE checkbook register, and/or you are "floating" checks.

You MUST have the money IN YOUR ACCOUNT at the time you write a check. Never try timing it against a deposit. It won't work, and you will pay fees.

FYI..At MOST banks, including BofA, Checks and charges post BEFORE deposits and credits.

It appears that you are running your balance very low which is a bad thing.

Also, are you using non-BofA ATM's? If so, are you IMMEDIATELY deducting the BofA charge for doing so, as well as the atm owner's fee?

STEVE, showing your true colors again Mr. BOA employee?

AUTHOR: Kimberly - Modesto (U.S.A.)

you are wrong, bank of america processes thier deposits and credits before the debits/checks.

and again your wrong by agreeing with this ladys husband in calling her stupid, because i guarantee that bank of america has delibrately processed items in her account so that they can charge as many overdraft fees as they can justify in any way possible. They do it to thier customers every single day they process items.

I have read about it being done to others, and i have also witnessed it so many times to my own accounts that anything to do anymore doesn't surprise me in the least. Just when you think you may have a handle on them, they come up with some other way to steal your money. And they get away with it every single time. I do believe i read somewhere that BOA actually trains thier customer service employees to lie thru thier teeth to justify why they charge these fees, and believe me they do. Bank of america built its empire by stealing our money. One of these days someone will find a way to bring them down, and I certainly hope it is soon, very soon.

#3 Consumer Suggestion

Clarification for Kimberly.

AUTHOR: Steve - Bradenton (U.S.A.)

First, I am not now, nor have I ever been an employee of BofA or any other bank. Now that is straight for the 100th time,

Second, You are absolutely wrong about the posting. Checks and charges come before deposits and credits in the same business day at BofA. Guaranteed.

Third, Banks do not cause NSF fees. Irresponsible customers do. Period.

Learn how to PROPERLY manage your money and your checkbook register, and you will never pay an NSF fee. Guaranteed.

This is such an old and tiring issue to see every single day.

Furthermore, if your bank "stole" your money, file larceny charges on them. Sue them. Do something, but don't attack and put down those people who simply CHOOSE to not pay NSF fees.

DO NOT BANK WITH BANK OF AMERICA

AUTHOR: Margaret - Houston (U.S.A.)

Bank of America in the last 18 years that I can remember had 2 previous names. NCNB then it was Nations. I tried their banking services upon relocation to Texas. It lasted 3 months. They are a S&$% bank PERIOD!!!! I closed my account after being with them for 3 months because I did not like the way they conducted business. I went with First Interstate Bank which eventually became Wells Fargo. In all the years I have been with Wells Fargo, I only had a problem once, took a few days, but it was resolved even though they did not admit THEIR ERROR!!! I would not ever bank with a bank that I did not like. You should have closed your account after 3 months and searched for a better financial institution.

Call me silly

AUTHOR: Susan - This City (U.S.A.)

Call me silly but in my old age 1+1 still equals 2.

It doesn't matter what bank you use, if you only have $1 don't spend $2 and you wont have bounces.
