I have used Bank of America for the past 15 years. I have often been unpleased with the organization, but I have so many direct deposits and withdrawals, I've always decided just to tough it out.

According to the mountains of junk mail I receive from BofA regularly, I am considered one of their most valuable customers -- blah, blah, blah.

So -- imagine my surprise today when I opened a notice from them (July 14) that, because of electronic debits that exceeded my July 7 balance by $31.77, they were automatically deducting an insufficient funds fee of $62 on July 8.

Hmmmmmmmmm -- I'm not a math whiz, but isn't that about a 200% charge?

And, didn't I read something in the papers in the recent past about banks being sued because outrageous overdraft charges?

Well, where do I sign up?

More than one overdraft?

AUTHOR: Robert - Wallingford (U.S.A.)

So where's the rip-off.

You spent more than you have. Twice.

From the amount of the fee, it seems that you had more than one overdraft on July 7. If Wells Fargo charges that much for one overdraft, then it's time to move to another bank.
