I received a letter in the mail with a seemingly ligit check in the amount of $986.88. The letter stated that I had entered a contest and won $8,000 and this check was to offset taxes and further states "Per your state regulations, you will be required to pay a tax and processing fee before your lump sum winning can be sent to you. Payment will be made directly to your tax agent."

I was suspicious from the start and when I researched this company on-line of course I found numerous reports that indicated receipt of check in the same amount with the same magial $8,000 prize and further stated this company is operating under false pretenses.

How this company got my information is a mystery and quite frankly very alarming. Had I been younger and more naive I very likely would have called the number listed in the letter 905-598-1248 and inadvertantly shared all pertinent information with a thief! I most likely also would have deposited the check for $986.88 which I have no doubt would have ultimately bounced and then the thief would have my bank account information.

I want these people stopped before they rip off many unsuspecting individuals who are in dire financial need. This kind of letter to someone in that situation would seem like a true gift, a life-line.

WARNING: DO NOT.. I repeat DO NOT cash any check you recieve in the mail from Barnes marketing. File a report and take the check to your bank so they can file fraud charges. Let's stop these jerks in their tracks!
