I opened up an account with $50 with Compass about 5 years ago between jobs. It was an extra account just to save with. I never received a statement or checks so I completely forgot about it.  About 3 months ago I received a letter from collection attorneys saying I owed Compass Bank $250. I called them and they said to call Compass to inquire on so I did and they said they had no idea what it was for either but might be inactivty charges. They did not know because my account# had been closed too long.  I never received ANYTHING in writing and they never called me either so no one knows why I owe this money and I checked my credit report.  This is the ONLY blemish on there and it took 107 points off my credit score.  I am getting an attorney.
