During 2009 I was fined $ 39.00 three times for late payment s. In each case CapOne either mailed the invoice after the due date or charged a late fee before the invoice was due. In each case I contacted Capone and had each late fee credited as CapOne perposely mailed the invoice late or added a late fee BEFORE the invoisced was Mailed.

Today I received a laterincreasing my APR because I had failed to make payments on time. I called them and explained that this was outrageous as they were responsible for the late fees due to FRAUD. The CSR would not "Said was unable to look at" my account to see that CapOne had credited my account three times in 2009 beacuse of date errors and front ending a late fee before the invoice was mailed. The CSR said that I was responsible and they would not alter the recent interest rate increase. The CSR stated that "CAPONE WOULD NEVER DO THAT" and the increase would stand as is. When I asked why the late fees were credited the CSR stated, "I DO NOT KNOW"

I asked for someone that could help me and the CSR hung up the line. Subsequent calls have gone unanswered and on 6+ occasions the automatic attendant did not give me an option to talk with a real person.

Really?!

AUTHOR: Chuck Finley - (United States of America)

You were late because you didn't receive a statement?!?

That is the worst excuse I've ever heard! I work for a credit card company and I hear this at least 20 times a week.

You made purchases on the account. You are responsible for paying that money back to the company. If you received a statement late the first time, why on earth would not call and ask what the due date is so that you can ensure that it doesn't happen again. Its is your responsibility!

I'm sorry that you don't know how to manage your credit cards!

Maybe you should talk to an adviser to help so you know how to handle your credit cards in the future.

PS. Press 0 as many times as it takes to get a rep. I've called capital one and it is very simple to get a rep, I actual got through within a minute because it provides an option "Speak to a Rep". I think its option #4.
