Since 2001, I have been a card member of First Bank credit card company which was later bought out my Chase Manhattan Bank.

Since 2001, I have made purchases totaling more that $50,000 at a profit of more than 1.5% or greater per transaction for both companies. And while I don't use credit cards that often, in that five year period, I have never been late with a payment more than 30 days grace from initial transaction date.

In July 2006, I purchased a DVD recorder over the Internet for the amount of about $300.00 and was 4 days over 30 days in payment back to Chase because of delays in shipping the product. However, I went ahead and paid the full amount of $300.00 plus $39.00 in penalty fees with the idea that I would contact Chase and explain the late payment and get the fees revoked.

I then get my September bill and was charged another $21.00 in penalty fees. Total penalty fees equal more than a 20% in rip-off charges from Chase! When I contacted Chase in October, their response was “pay off your balance first – then we'll talk…”

Chase Manhattan Bank is currently running their deceptive marketing campaign of “rewards” for new prospective credit card carrying customers. If this is some sort of reward, I'd hate to see what their Benjamin Dover (AKA Ben Dover) charges are...

DO NOT buy into Chase's pathetic marketing campaign – had this been a purchase totaling more than $1,000.00, I would have been penalized over $200.00 at their current scheme of rip-off practices!

This is highway robbery – my APR for transactions is 17% after 20 days. My credit score is extremely high meaning I am a very low credit risk which leads me to make the following statement:

I have since cancelled two Chase credit card accounts.

STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS FROM CHASE MANHATTAN BANK OR SUFFER THEIR RATH IN PENATIES NOT REWARDS! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
